The Formula Botanica Masterclass is back, and so are our kits 🌹

If you’ve ever wanted to remove the mystery from skincare formulation, this is your chance. Formula Botanica’s free Rose Eye Cream Masterclass runs across 10 short lessons from 24 April (NZ time), walking you through how to formulate a botanical eye cream from scratch. Not just the steps, but the reasoning behind them.

We’ve put together three kits with everything you need to follow along from home:

🌿 Ingredients Kit: all the ingredients to make the eye cream three times over. Great if you’ve already got basic equipment.

🌿 Complete Kit: all the ingredients plus a full starter equipment set. Beakers, scales, thermometer, pipettes, pH strips, and a frosted glass pot for your finished cream.

🌿 Equipment Kit: just the equipment, for those who already have their ingredients sorted.

Sacha inchi oil is having a moment, and for good reason.

With an exceptionally high omega-3 content (often 40–50%+), this lightweight oil brings a fatty acid profile that’s hard to match. It absorbs quickly, layers well, and works across a wide range of formulations from facial oils to emulsions and hair care.

🌟 Free formulation | Omega Rich Barrier Oil

This blend is built around a complementary fatty acid profile, combining oils rich in omega-3 and omega-6 with stabilising components to create a balanced, lightweight facial oil.

Sacha inchi and chia seed oil are both exceptionally high in alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), while kiwi seed oil adds a locally grown element that helps round out the profile. These are paired with jojoba oil for natural stability, and squalane to keep the overall skin feel light and fast absorbing.

The result is a simple oil blend that feels elegant on the skin while bringing together a diverse range of plant-derived fatty acids.

Meet our NZ hydrosols, and why we now only stock local.

We recently made the call to stop importing hydrosols and now source exclusively from growers and distillers right here in Aotearoa New Zealand.

It means fresher product, less waste, a lower carbon footprint, and better traceability from plant to bottle. All of which matter to us (and we know matter to many of you too).

Yes, it meant letting go of a few long-time favourites from further afield, but we genuinely believe NZ hydrosols are world class, and we’re proud to support the people who make them.

We’re a small, close-knit team of family and friends who are committed to finding the finest ingredients from around the world. These ingredients must be ethically sourced and where possible we buy direct from the growers, so we can establish a relationship with them.
