Life has been a bit slower than my usual for the past month. Despite this not being by choice it has taught me to appreciate the little things and find ways to fill my cup.

Ate my way through China 🇨🇳

Wow china was such an interesting country learning about their rich culture and history, experiencing the living and housing for such a large population is wild. Since barely any of their houses have kitchens they are heavily reliant on the food and restaurant industry.

I never used to understand why they ate how they did, and what we view as strange, however since being there for three weeks I can see this is their normal, what works and they are used to. When I was eating peanut butter with banana on toast at the hotel before a hockey game I was getting stares, the workers were pointing and laughing at me because that was odd to them. It’s just funny something so normal to me is very weird to them, it goes both ways and it’s just a cultural difference.

After 3 weeks of this style food I am very grateful for the fresh, diverse and nourishing food here in NZ. I feel lucky to be working with clients in building their nutrition knowledge so everyone can enjoy food whilst providing their body with nutrients to be their best self 🫶🏼💫

Variety in your nutrition is so important! Some of my meals are very micronutrient dense others not so much, and that is okay! Understanding the context makes this make sense.🍑🥦🥨🥗🍉🥞☕️🍦

Some of my meals are sweet, but most are savoury. Some (most) meals are home cooked meaning the occasional one out with friends or family is not that deep in the bigger picture.

So long as MOST of the time I am doing MOST things MOSTLY well enough, you will still find success. I focus on trying to consistently get sufficient protein, lots of colours fruit, vegetables, and fibre whilst still enjoying all the things I love.🥰

There will be times to lock in and that may be what is needed, and other times when you may feel the need to ease up but this is completely for you to decide within yourself.✨😌

Putting this here because I am happy with my effort to do 120kg for 6 reps X3. I’m not the best at hip thrusts so I work on them and have built up to this (it may not be much for others but it is for me)

Someone came up to me in the gym mid set doing these saying “I was going to say that’s an impressive weight because I thought you were dead lifting, then I realised you are only hip thrusting, lol” … are you kidding me😡

Friendly reminder - let people do their thing and if u have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all 🙏🏼

Food is such an adventure, it’s celebration, culture, indulgence, connection and everything in between.

When you have the balance of your day to day nutrition in place it allows you to enjoy it to the fullest in a way that serves you to reach potential.

Last night we smashed these epic Nachos. Today I eat how I normally majority of the time and life goes on😌
