Cutler and Gross 1420

270 hours of meticulous craftsmanship are required to create each 1420 sunglass. It features an exquisite step in the acetate that reveals the layers of laminate that comprise each frame, a detail that is traditionally hidden from view. A limited production of 350 frames.

A brand built on friendship, it was established by opticians Graham Cutler and Tony Gross in 1969. The alliance of Mr Gross’ flamboyance and flair and the meticulous, detail-driven characteristics of Mr Cutler became the foundation for opening the first ever store in 1971, located at 16 Knightsbridge Green, London. Thanks to word of mouth, what began as a small but innovative bespoke service soon became a fully-fledged mecca for artists, rock stars, writers, and royalty. Together, the pair had created the perfect balance between taste and technicality, quickly cementing their reputation as industry leaders in eyewear.
