We’re excited to announce that MoleMap Hamilton is now Southern Cross Easy-Claim accredited, the first clinic within our MoleMap treatment network to achieve this milestone 💙

This means members can now claim directly in clinic for eligible skin cancer treatment procedures, including cryotherapy, punch or shave biopsies, and surgical excisions. The process is now faster, easier, and completely paper free.

This is an exciting step in our nationwide Southern Cross accreditation rollout, helping more New Zealanders access quality, end to end skin cancer care, from skin checks and mole mapping through to diagnosis and treatment.

It’s a thorough skin check designed for early detection and peace of mind.

🩺 Head to toe skin check: Our trained melanographers assess your skin from head to toe.
📸 Full body photography: We capture approximately 24 images of your skin to track changes over time.
🔬 Dermoscopic imaging: Close ups of any spots needing a closer look are taken. These are added to a detailed catalogue of individual lesions, which are monitored at each follow up appointment so that even the most subtle changes can be detected early.
👩‍⚕️ Dermatologist diagnosis: Images are sent to a dermatologist for review without needing a second appointment or referral.

Beach days are better with sunscreen 🏖️

Whether it is sunny or overcast, UV rays can still damage your skin. Before heading out, apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen at least 20 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or towel drying.

Do not forget a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and protective clothing, and seek shade when the UV is at its peak. Simple habits like these can make a lasting difference in protecting your skin and reducing your risk of skin cancer.

A tiny red spot that looked harmless turned out to be something far more serious 🔴

Sarah thought it was just a broken capillary, something her concealer could easily hide. But when it didn’t heal, she trusted her gut and asked for a biopsy. The result? An aggressive form of basal cell carcinoma that required Mohs surgery.

Our trained melanographers check your spots during a skin check, but self-checking your skin between appointments is just as important 👀

Every three months, take a few minutes to look over your skin from head to toe. Here is what to do: use the SCAN rule to guide you and look for anything Sore, Changing, Abnormal or New.

Catching changes early can make all the difference. Regular checks, both at home and in the clinic , are the best way to stay on top of your skin health.

Wherever the day takes you, make sure sunscreen comes with you 🧴

UV damage does not take a break, even on cloudy days. Apply sunscreen before you head out, reapply every two hours, and don’t forget those easy-to-miss spots like your ears, hands and feet.

It is one of the simplest daily habits that protects your skin and lowers your risk of skin cancer.
