Nutrition can really make or break a half and full marathon. Especially if you haven’t trained your gut before the race!

Next Wednesday I’ll be hosting a webinar all about nutrition for race day and how to avoid gut issues on the day.

This event is especially for anyone new to running a half or full marathon as the information you can find online for running nutrition is conflicting and confusing.

In this webinar I’ll break down the science and you’ll leave feeling confident in your nutrition strategy to run your best race.

Sign up via the link in my bio or the website.

P.s. thank you to everyone for being so accomodating of the date change 💛

Wowee time is flying by!!

It’s only 10 weeks and 2 days until Auckland marathon which means it’s time to suss your race day nutrition.

While we train our bodies to run, we also need to train our gut so we don’t have any surprises 💩 on the day

To learn more about training your gut I’m currently taking on clients at Sports Lab. You can book in via the link in my bio 🙌

Next week I am honoured to be talking alongside who completed her Masters researching the impact of the statements like “you don’t look like a runner” and other factors on runners body image. I will also share how a healthy relationship with food will help us perform at our best.

Though this conversation isn’t just for runners - it’s for anyone who is active, who might struggle with body image or is in a position whereby they influence the body image and eating behaviours of those around them.

And this event isn’t just a presentation - it’s an opportunity to be part of changing the narrative around body image, eating and performance (whatever that means to you)

Book your tickets (for a steal of $20) on the sportslab website or the link in my bio

3 in 4 women in Aotearoa feel negatively about the way they look on a daily basis 😢

Even as I went to post this picture I caught myself zooming up on this photo critiquing how I looked…cheers social media

“Loving your body” is complex and oversimplification of this sentiment is not helpful. In the real world, loving your body is actually really hard to do!

So we need to work together to change how we view and talk about our bodies.

This means practicing and rewiring our brains to celebrate the amazing things our bodies does for us!

And while you may not be able to love your body every day, you can work at accepting it, flaws and all…

So this week I challenge you to be kinder to yourself

Compliment yourself on things you do
“I felt strong when I exercised”
“I felt energised went I went on a walk”
“I feel calm when I rest and watch Netflix”
“I feel powerful, motivated, and focused.”

Together we can change the narrative 💛

❗️these are general signs of low energy availability but they may also be signs of other medical issues. Always check in with your doctor if you have concerns that these signs are not just due to deficient energy intake.

Your body size, shape or the number on the scales does NOT represent your well-being.

Consider this - maybe your “best weight” is when you FEEL most healthy, you’re able to FUNCTION and do all the things you love, you FEEL worthy and confident and you LOVE your life.

Let’s not let numbers dictate our perceptions of ourselves or others 💛
