I recently came across a quote that struck me as deeply true:
“Not everyone is healed enough to handle accountability.” — Nakeia Homer
These words offer a powerful reframe.
It’s easy to get caught in hurt—focusing on what someone did or didn’t say, or judging their actions or inactions as deliberate or malicious. That reaction is deeply human… but it keeps us bound to resentment and disempowerment.
When I sit with Homer’s words, I see that accountability isn’t just about integrity—it reflects a certain level of healing.
As pride softens and the need to defend or prove dissolves, humility emerges. With humility comes self-awareness and the ability to take responsibility without shame or resistance.
This perspective doesn’t excuse harmful behavior, but it does invite compassion. From that compassion arises healthy detachment, guiding us back to our centre, where our inner power resides.
✨ If you’re untangling from someone who isn’t yet able to be accountable and struggling to release the weight of their unhealed actions, I’d love to support you in finding peace, clarity, and reconnecting with your centre.
