The Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for Best Doctoral Thesis is awarded to the five most exceptional theses successfully completed in 2024. Criteria for nomination include the demonstrable significance, originality, contribution and excellence of the thesis.

Dr Xiaofei Yang, Faculty of Engineering and Design, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Thesis: Automated data analysis for bridge visual inspection using deep learning techniques, was one of the five awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for Best Doctoral Thesis in 2024. Congratulations and best wishes on your new job.

Congratulations to doctoral candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Aung Naing Soe, and supervisors, on being awarded Paper of the Year for their paper Multi-Substrate Green Roof Systems for Urban Stormwater Management in the Auckland Region at the Water NZ Stormwater Conference 2025!
This is the result of ongoing collaboration with contributions from our Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research, Auckland Council, The Urbanist, Daltons Ltd, and Tektus.
