School holiday fun can sometimes lead to bumps and sprains. If an injury hasn’t settled after a few days, physiotherapy assessment can help get things back on track.

🎒 School holidays can be great fun - and sometimes a bit accident-prone.

With more time at home and energy to burn, we often see an increase in injuries during the holidays. From tripping over toys, being a little too ambitious on the trampoline, to losing balance while immersed in a VR game, it all adds up.

Common holiday injuries we treat include:
• Sprains and strains
• Falls and bumps
• Wrist, ankle, or knee injuries
• Overuse aches from sudden bursts of activity

Most injuries are minor, but if pain, swelling, or reduced movement doesn’t settle after a few days, it may be worth having it assessed.

Kumeu Physiotherapy is ACC registered, so if an injury has occurred, you can usually come straight to us without needing to see your GP first.

We hope everyone enjoys a safe and active school holiday period.

With the long weekend ahead, many people take the opportunity to catch up on jobs around the house, get outdoors, or spend time with family and friends.

It’s also a reminder that the clinic will be closed over the Easter period, so if you’ve been meaning to get an injury or ongoing ni**le checked, now is a good time to book ahead.

We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing Easter break - and don't forget, Daylight Saving finishes early Easter Sunday morning.

⚽ Changing sports this season?

As summer sports wrap up and winter codes begin, many people move straight from one season into the next - often carrying a few aches and ni**les with them.

First of all, congrats on getting through the summer season, especially with the humidity we’ve had this year. It hasn’t been easy on players, coaches, or supporters. 🔥🌧

This is a good time to check in with your body before the next season starts.

Common issues we see during seasonal transitions include:
• Ongoing muscle tightness or soreness
• Knee, ankle, or shoulder ni**les
• Reduced strength or flexibility after a busy season
• Injuries that never fully settled

Addressing small problems early can help reduce the risk of more significant injuries once training and competition ramp up again.

Kumeu Physiotherapy is ACC registered, so if you’ve picked up an injury during sport or training, you may not need a GP referral to get started.

🏅 Good luck to everyone taking part this weekend Ironman and Round the Bays.

Whether you’re running, walking, or supporting from the sidelines, it’s a great achievement.

After the event, it’s normal to feel things like:
• Calf and hamstring tightness
• Knee or hip stiffness
• General fatigue

If soreness lingers or something doesn’t settle after a few days, physiotherapy can help you recover properly and return to your usual routine comfortably.
