👑 A reminder that King’s Birthday weekend is near.

With the public holiday creating a shorter working week, appointments can fill more quickly than usual before and after the long weekend.

If you’ve been meaning to get an injury, ongoing pain, or persistent ni**le checked, it may be worth organising an appointment sooner rather than later.

Whether it’s a sports injury, work strain, or something that simply hasn’t settled properly, early assessment and treatment can often help prevent longer-term problems.

We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing long weekend.

🌿 **What is Dry Needling?**

Dry needling is a treatment technique used by trained physiotherapists to help reduce muscle tension, improve movement, and manage pain.

Very fine needles are inserted into specific muscles or trigger points to help release tight or irritated tissue. It’s commonly used alongside other physiotherapy treatments such as exercise rehabilitation, hands-on therapy, and movement advice.

Dry needling may assist with:
• Muscle tightness and tension
• Sports-related injuries
• Neck and shoulder pain
• Headaches related to muscle tension
• Ongoing aches and restricted movement

At Kumeu Physiotherapy, dry needling provided by Nerissa and Alex is always tailored to the individual and used as part of a broader treatment approach.

If you’d like to know whether dry needling may be appropriate for your condition, feel free to get in touch.

💪 Shoulder pain can affect more than just sport.

Whether it’s from work, exercise, lifting, gardening, or simply building up over time, shoulder pain can make everyday tasks surprisingly difficult.

Common shoulder issues may involve:
• Pain reaching overhead
• Weakness or reduced movement
• Discomfort sleeping on one side
• Ongoing tightness or irritation

At Kumeu Physiotherapy, we assess and treat a wide range of shoulder conditions, with treatment tailored to the individual and their goals.

Early assessment can often help prevent ongoing stiffness and loss of function.

Any joint strain/sprain from whatever cause can be helped with physiotherapy. We treat and manage post-operative conditions such as joint replacements, ligament reconstructions, tendon repairs, shoulder dislocation repairs, and many others.

We also provide rehabilitation after fractures, surgeries, ruptured Achilles tendons once out of plaster, and shoulder tendon repairs to name a few. We work with you to regain optimal function.

We can also help people with arthritis. This can be a debilitating disease that leaves people wondering what to do. We treat and help you manage these problems through exercises, pain management, and education.

Plus we can treat all tendinopathies such as rotator cuff issues, Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and trochanteric bursitis.
