Today is World Mental Health Day.

World Mental Health Day is organised to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to support the mental health of ourselves and our loved ones.

It's important to check in on those you love and speak openly about what you're going through - one conversation can change everything.

It's as easy as TLC; touch, look, and get it checked.

As a woman, it's important to know what your normal looks like, so you can ensure any changes are noticeable.

92% of breast cancers are survivable when detected early* - and knowing the normal look and feel of your breasts can help you spot a change quickly.

If you've found something that doesn't seem normal, it’s important to chat with a doctor as soon as possible.

Early detection saves lives - with your annual mammogram and being breast aware, we can work together to increase the survival rate against breast cancer, providing the best chance for successful treatment.

This October, we stand with Breast Cancer Foundation NZ in their mission towards zero deaths from breast cancer.

Early detection saves lives - it’s the reason we do what we do. At Allevia Radiology and Allevia Breast Institute, we're committed to making screening easier, more accurate, and more accessible for every woman.

Throughout Pink October, we'll share ways you can take action - from booking a mammogram to supporting local awareness events.

How will you show your support? Tag someone you care about and remind them to book their next screening.

Early diagnosis saves lives 💙

Prostate testing has come a long way since the standard 'finger test'. At Allevia Radiology, patients can undergo a prostate MRI scan, which allows us to detect the presence of prostate cancer through dedicated testing and screening.

This test can be taken if you have an elevated PSA, or a strong family history of prostate cancer. If you have any questions or concerns, you may choose to have an MRI scan to help detect cancer in your prostate gland - something that you can discuss with your doctor and have done at Allevia Radiology.

This month is Cervical Screening Awareness Month.

Women aged between 25 and 69 should undergo cervical screening every five years; and The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners have recently announced three new ways that women will be able to take this test.

The National Cervical Screening Unity (NCSU) is changing the way cervical screening is carried out and has introduced a HPV test as the first screening test.

This means you can choose from one of the following options when you're due for your examination:

🩷You can choose to collect your own sample, via a simple self-test swab, or
🩷You can ask your healthcare provider to collect your swab sample, or
🩷You can choose to have your healthcare provider take a sample from your cervix (known as a smear test)

It's so important to keep on top of your cervical health - and with so many options for women, it's never been easier. Speak to your GP next time you need testing to see which of the above options are available for you.

You can read more about this change to the process here: https://www.rnzcgp.org.nz/news/media-releases/its-cervical-screening-awareness-month-are-you-up-to-date/

1 in 8 men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime.

Men's Health is often less discussed, and this month, we want to continue to raise awareness for this great cause.

By driving more awareness around men's health, we can continue to help people understand how to get tested for prostate cancer - because early detection is the best protection.
