Blind Sport NZ teamed up with for their first official Blind Low Vision tennis clinic for coaches. We explored practical adaptations, verbal and tactile coaching techniques, and spent time on court learning how to best support athletes with vision impairment at all levels.

The insights and feedback from coaches and facilitators will help shape Tennis NZ future coaching framework and support the growth of BLV tennis across Aotearoa.

Big thanks to guest speaker Ellisia Cleave for sharing her journey and advice.
And a huge thank you to Auckland Council for funding!

Keen to give BLV tennis a go? Tennis Park and Tennis Club are running FREE Sunday sessions from March to May and would love to see you on court. https://tennis.kiwi/play/blv/

If you are not in Auckland, get in touch for info on your region or how we can support your local club to learn about BLV Tennis.

A wee update from us at Blind Sport NZ: Helen Johnson has relocated to Christchurch and landed right amongst familiar Paralympic colleagues at the Parakiore Sports & Recreation Centre!

It certainly is a full circle moment!!

Three former Paralympics New Zealand staff now have desks located side-by-side at the new Parakiore Sports & Recreation Centre.

There might be a reason they have grouped Helen Johnson from Blind Sport New Zealand, Malcolm Humm from Canterbury Rugby League and Hadleigh Pierson from ParaFed Canterbury together at the Sport Canterbury Sports House.
