Maintenance time!
As we start to slow down a bit for winter it’s a good time to catch up on some health maintenance to save health concerns developing and affecting your quality of life further down the track.
Skin check - do you have an odd looking spot not healing?

The following is a message from a Waiheke patient to our Pharmacist.

“I just wanted to thank you for your professional support the other day . I am very very grateful as I can truly say, you saved my life by telling me to “go straight to the doctor, right now “ I had know idea the sore on my head was actually cancer !!! I thought I’d fix it with a bit of cream !!!! Anyway, to fill you in, I went to the doctor and they diagnosed a squamous cell cancer , which I then went immediately to The skin institute to get removed and 12 stitches later, gone . Whilst there , they checked my whole body and found a Melanoma on the back of my left arm, which I couldn’t see {scarey} which they also removed , that one they went really deep to get. Anyway, they are gone and I now have to go for 6monthly checks. So once again, Thank you so so much, I really appreciate the work you do and I hate to think what would have happened if you weren’t there . You literally have saved my life. “

With the unpredictability of increasing weather and supply chains events around the world a little preparing now can save a lot of last minute and emergency stress for all!
Check on your own first aid and medication supplies- are you keeping prepared by being ahead with your supplies and repeat requests.

Core Pharmacy & First Aid EssentialsMedications:
At least 7 to 30 days of personal prescriptions that you need to take daily or in emergency. 🏥
(check expiry dates)
Pain & Fever Relief: Paracetamol and Ibuprofen (adult and children’s dosages).
Wound Care: Adhesive plasters (different sizes), sterile gauze dressings, triangular bandages, and conforming bandages.
Antiseptics & Cleaning: Alcohol-free wipes, antiseptic cream/spray, hand sanitizer, and saline solution. Face masks.
Specific Treatments: Antihistamine tablets, hydrocortisone cream (for allergic rashes), diarrhea relief, and indigestion medication.
Miscellaneous: Digital thermometer, tweezers, scissors, safety pins, and disposable gloves.

Hi everyone. Just a quick memo about measles. If you are born after 1969 and don't have a record of 2 measles vaccines, you can get a free booster. You can get this at your GP or at the pharmacy. You can book on www.bookmyvaccine.nz or just walk in weekdays. If you were born before 1969, you usually don't need a measles vaccine.
Making it easy - ask our Pharmacist team about any of the vaccines.

All vaccines on the National Immunisation Schedule, COVID-19, and flu vaccines can be booked online.

We need some extra help.
We have a Pharmacy assistant role coming up after our fabulous students return to uni for around 2 to 3 days per week. ( NZ resident requirement )
We need a friendly, helpful team player.
The role will involve friendly customer service help, stock and routine management.
Some extra shifts will be necessary at times.
Ideally Pharmacy experience would help but at least confident, caring, energetic customer experience and ability to use stock management software systems.
