The Humble squat ๐Ÿ’ช One of the most important movements we can work on. It is functional and transferable to all areas of life and important through every age and stage of our life. Here we can see a great technique of the squat; hinging at the hips, knees remaining above her ankle, chest upright and back straight.
- The band encourages greater activation of your gluteus medius and minimus and helps reduce pain when reintroducing squats after a back injury.

Should we rest or should we move?

This can be a complex question, one that changes depending on the stage and state of your injury.

Broadly, light and comfortable movement is very beneficial for most injuries. Pain is your guide, ensuring this is kept at a comfortable level & one that you can maintain for a while.

Complete rest can often be detrimental to an injury - from back injuries to muscle or tendon pain. Light movement for these helps to keep the blood flowing, increasing healing efficiency.

This is why it is very important to get assessed by a physiotherapist, so they can guide you through the right steps.

Within the scope of Physiotherapy & Podiatry, we cover everything from acute injury management, ACC injuries, long term health and injury management & chronic conditions.

Treatment is directed by your therapist, understanding your injury & what your needs are. This can include Massage, Dry needling, Cupping & Joint mobilisations.
