In Episode 2 of The Pelvic Pod, Emma shares her personal story of living with incontinence for over 20 years. She speaks openly and honestly about the challenges, stigma, and impact on daily life, as well as the importance of being heard, supported, and understood.

We were first honoured to share Emma’s story back in 2019, and it’s incredibly powerful to reflect on her journey again today.

A heartfelt thank you to Emma for her courage, honesty, and willingness to share her story.

Continence isn’t about having a “perfect” bladder or bowel 💛

So many things can play a part – and understanding them can help you feel more in control.

Things like:
💊 Medications – some can increase urgency or affect control
🚽 Constipation – it can put pressure on the bladder or make things uncomfortable
🤰 Body changes from pregnancy, birth, menopause, prostate changes and more
👴 Getting older – muscles, bladder capacity, and nighttime wee patterns can all shift

This isn’t about scaring you – it’s about helping you (and your whānau) understand what might be going on, so you can figure out what support could help most 🌱

If you’d like a chat or personalised advice, our helpline is here: 0800 650 659

Or visit continence.org.nz – you don’t have to figure this out on your own.
