🌙 Daily Marama with Tamara

Maramataka: Mutuwhenua
Energy: Balanced energy
Date: 16 April

Today’s moon Mutuwhenua brings a powerful time to observe your life and reflect on your daily habits.

What you do every day shapes what you manifest long-term.

The key today is how you see yourself:

Are you observing with curiosity… or judging with criticism?

🌿 Advice

• Observe your habits

• Notice your self-talk throughout the day

• Practice Replacing judgement with awareness

• Journal what you’re learning about yourself

• Stay present in your daily actions

Your self-talk determines everything
whether you’re growing through awareness or holding yourself back through judgement.

Today is about witnessing your life clearly, without pressure.

✨ We’re also inviting you to join our Autism Awareness Wānanga happening across Aotearoa New Zealand connecting, learning, and growing together through lived experience.

Autistic Solo Travels
The Length Of Aotearoa, NZ
Educating communities on autism

If you can donate please help us make this mission the best we can

https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/xabilitiesfundraising
In just ONE month, we’ve travelled across the South Island sharing Wānanga Takiwātanga educating communities on autism through lived experience.

💛 6 regions
💛 6 wānanga
💛 200+ people reached
💛 Countless hearts opened

And we’re only just getting started…
Next stops: Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch, Te Anau, Dunedin, Invercargill 📍

This isn’t just awareness this is understanding.

Because takiwātanga (autism) isn’t something to “fix”…
It’s a different way of experiencing the world.

🧠 Autism is a neurological difference not a deficit

🌊 Sensory systems can be heightened, meaning environments can feel louder, brighter, more intense

💬 Communication may look different but that doesn’t mean lack of intelligence or feeling
❤️ With the right support, understanding, and environment neurodivergent people thrive

This journey has grown into something bigger than us…
A movement for neurodiversity, dignity, and truth.

We could NOT have done this alone.

Ngā mihi nui :

✨ Our communities who showed up, listened, and held space

✨ Every single donation that kept us moving

✨ Spectrum Foundation & Catalytic Foundation for believing in this kaupapa

🌙 Daily Maramataka with Tamara

For the next three days, the maramataka carries high energy 🌊

Ōtāne • Ōrongonui • Ōmutu

🌿 How to protect your wellbeing:

• Ground yourself
Bare skin on whenua earth, sand, grass, water
The land gives back free electrons → supporting your body to reduce stress & inflammation

• Move your body
Walk, stretch, shake it out
Energy needs somewhere to go

• Stop overthinking, start moving
Presence isn’t thinking about the moment
It’s stepping into it

• Focus on what’s in front of you
Not everything at once just the next step

If your mind feels loud…
If your body feels full…
If everything feels “too much”…

It’s not a sign something is wrong.
It’s a sign your system needs release, not pressure

Think of the next three days like this:

🔋 You’re already at 100%
Your job isn’t to push harder
Your job is to flow

🌙 Daily Marama with Tamara

Maramataka: Tangaroa Whāriki kiokio
Energy: High energy
Date: 12 April

Today’s moon kiokio brings strong, high energy

This is a day to release energy, not hold it in.

🌿 Advice

• Move your body to discharge excess energy

• Use self-expression (talking, art, movement, for anxious feelings)

• Go barefoot on the whenua to reduce stress and inflammation

• Touch nature with your skin (grass, trees, water) to help with stress and inflammation

Connecting your body to the earth helps release electrons, which can reduce stress and inflammation supporting your nervous system naturally.

Nature offers free, accessible support sometimes the simplest tools are the most powerful.

🌙 Daily Marama with Tamara

(Can you tell I’m out of breath from walking up a hill 😂)

Maramataka: tangaroa whakapau
Energy: High energy
Date: 11 April

Today’s moon brings strong, high energy the perfect time to get physical and ground your body.

High-energy days can build up in the nervous system, leading to overwhelm, irritation, and negative thoughts.

The key isn’t to sit in it… it’s to move it through.

I used to be skeptical about walking for mental health
until I experienced how powerful movement really is.

🌿 Advice

• Go for a hīkoi (walk) even a short one

• Stretch your body to release tension

• Move in a way that feels good for your body

• Touch nature with bare skin (grass, trees, water)

• Step outside to reset your mind

• Use movement to shift negative thoughts

Grounding isn’t just a concept it’s physical.

When you connect your body to nature (bushes, rivers, forests), you support your nervous system in a real, tangible way.

This kind of sensory connection supports both adults and tamariki, helping reduce irritation, overwhelm, and behavioural challenges.

High energy doesn’t have to become chaos
it can become movement, clarity, and calm.

Dancing. No music. No intention.
Middle of nowhere, on the side of the road…
just dancing because the sunset is pretty 🌅✨

That’s the kind of freedom you find after healing 💫

Daily Marama with Tamara

Maramataka: Tangaroa-ā-roto
Energy: High energy
Date: 10 April

Today’s moon Tangaroa-ā-roto (half-moon) brings strong, high energy which can be intense for neurodivergent people.

You may feel:
• Panic or anxiety
• Sensory overload
• Increased risk of seizures
• Overthinking or restlessness

Think of your energy like a full power bar
today isn’t about adding more… it’s about releasing energy.

🌿 Advice

• Move your body in a way that suits you
• Go barefoot on the whenua to ground and release stress
• Use gentle activity to calm your nervous system
• Step away from sensory-heavy environments
• Slow your breathing when things feel intense
• Don’t overload your schedule

Grounding with the earth can help reduce stress and inflammation, bringing your body back into balance.

✨ We’re currently travelling the South Island, heading to Invercargill April 18th for our Wānanga Takiwātanga, sharing autism education and lived experiences with our communities.
