Some cooking sessions are special, and this was definitely one of them.
As soon as the ingredients for our home-made Thai green curry paste were ready, the Wellness Kitchen was filled with the incredible fragrances of the Far East!
From the moment Zak came in, he was completely engaged. In fact, this may have been the most focused and enthusiastic we've ever seen him in a class. Whether it was the excitement of creating a curry from scratch or the energy from all those colourful, antioxidant-rich ingredients, Zak was absolutely in his element.
He challenged G about the chilli level in the curry paste - surprising G by comfortably handling even more heat!
Zak also had a very specific request: garlic naan to accompany the curry, alongside the traditional jasmine rice. When Zak has a food vision, G does his best to make it happen, so garlic naan was added to the menu.
But perhaps the most heartwarming moment came at lunch. Zak loved both the curry and the naan so much that instead of eating it all, he carefully rationed his portion to make sure he had enough to take home for his mum and sister. That simple act of thoughtfulness melted our hearts.
To top off an already fantastic day, Zak told G that this curry was better than any Thai curry he had ever eaten in a restaurant. There aren't many compliments a chef enjoys hearing more than that.
A wonderful day of cooking, learning, laughter, and sharing food with the people we care about.
Zak Cowell Cowell - wasn't that an epic session?!
