Our lovely donor, Barb celebrated her big 100th donation! A special mention to Barb for her continual dedication to donating, she is an absolute gem with plenty of good stories and travelling advice! Barb has been donating since she started studying nursing at the age of 20, with a few breaks in between when she moved to the US and had children.

Thank you, Barb, for helping keep our blood stocks up over the Christmas/New Years period – you’re very special to us at Epsom 😊

With donors going away and reduced hours in the coming weeks, it is harder to fill appointments, so if you're fit and healthy we'd love to see you! The Epsom Donor Centre will be closed on 25th Dec, 26th Dec, 1st Jan and 2nd Jan, otherwise back to business as usual!

John has been donating since high school and comes in regularly to the Epsom donor centre, today he celebrated his 200th donation with his son, Simon.

John’s family is heavily involved in donating – his mother donated, his sister donates, his niece donates, and both of his sons donate too – what a family! John is a wonderful man with a big heart; we thank him for being so passionate saying the “gift of life” is the best thing to give. Congrats, John!

The Epsom Donor Centre was lucky to have (almost) the whole Hansen family join us! Father Carl donated alongside his four kids – Ben, twins Rebecca and Jessica (16), and Matthew. Carl’s wife and niece donate too, and his mother reached 100 donations before retiring from giving. It is fair to say that donating blood runs in this very special family ❤️

This was the kids second time donating and Carls’ 62nd. The whole family are O group, helping keep our red blood stocks strong. Hansen Family, it was lovely to meet you, we are very lucky to have the family join us and thank you for your efforts in coming together. What legends! 👍🏼

Congratulations to David on reaching an incredible 150 donations! Starting back in high school, David has generously given blood, plasma, platelets, and white blood cells. Truly a legend who’s done it all.

Merci to Mathilde, Jeff, Flore & Leo! 🇫🇷❤️🇳🇿

Mathilde (middle) and Jeff (right) are part of our Epsom family, and yesterday they did something extra special - they brought their French friends along to donate while holidaying in New Zealand!

Meet Flore (donating on the chair) and Leo (far left). They’ve been travelling the country in a van and, even with their last month here approaching, they generously took time out of their day to donate. Both have donated back home in France, but this was Flore’s very first plasma donation! As an intensive care nurse, she spoke about the constant need for blood products, especially for patients with leukaemia.

Leo, who works as a Fly-Fishing Guide (how cool is that!), also rolled up his sleeve to donate whole blood yesterday.

We’re so grateful to all four of them for making a difference – what an inspiring international effort!

Last week, we welcomed a father and daughter duo, Nuwan and Yenuthi! This extra special plasma donation was Nuwan’s 49th since moving to NZ in 2022, and Yenuthi’s very first donation after turning 16 last month. Yenuthi was inspired by her favourite subject biology and her dreams of becoming a doctor, she donated as she “knows it’s a good cause” and enjoyed learning about the process of plasma donation.

Thanks Nuwan and Yenuthi for taking the time to donate and supporting each other, we loved having you and look forward to seeing you again!
