Remembering with love our dear friend and pharmacist Annette, who worked with us for 13 years and passed away last week. Many of you will remember Annette for her quiet, gentle, helpful manner. She was a pioneer in her time, studying pharmacy when there were very few women in the profession, and she studied under the apprentice system. She always went the extra mile to help everyone and was a great support to us during difficult times. Annette, we will miss you.

🚨 UPDATED: New drop points added🧣🐾 WINTER BLANKET DRIVE FOR OUR COMMUNITY DOGS 🐾🧣

Winter has well and truly arrived, and many dogs in our community are feeling the cold ❄️. We’re calling on our amazing supporters to help us keep them warm and safe.

Saving Hope is running a Blanket Drive to collect clean, warm blankets (clean secondhand) for dogs and pups who are doing it tough this winter.

We’re especially in need of:
🛏️ Thick wool blankets (no electric or weighted)
🧺 Single duvet inners, Pet beds, towels, and warm jackets also welcome!

Every donation will help bring comfort to a dog in need – whether it’s a pup in foster care, or a family doing it tough trying to keep their beloved pet warm 💙

There are several drop-off points📍 across Auckland: Matakana, Snells Beach, Dairy Flat, Millwater, Ranui, Glen Eden, Albany, Ponsonby, Takapuna, Devonport, Botany, Highland Park, Beachlands and Waiuku. We also have a volunteer collecting in Takanini, Papakura, Pukekohe and Patumahoe. Please contact us at info@savinghope.co.nz for details.

Hi Geraldine here with some flu facts for you
Flu vaccines are available from 1 April
You have a choice .
There is the standard flu vaccine which is free for the over 65s,pregnant people and with people with various health conditions
if you are over 65 you can close to pay for the Fluad Quad vaccine which has an immune booster with it that gives you a better immune response plus will last longer ( around 12months)
This is a self funded vaccine and particularly recommended for plus 65 years people with other health conditions which could mean a more severe influenza illness.it significantly reduces hospital admissions from flu .
There is another self funded vaccine which some studies indicate is around 15% more effective .this is developed with cell based technology rather than egg based and is more environmentally sustainable.
It is an exact match to World Health Organisation selected virus strains .
This is called Flucelvax quad
Don’t underestimate the flu .it is a very nasty illness
Remenber you can’t catch flu from the vaccine as it is a dead vaccine ,dead viruses can’t multiply .
Get your vaccine early as it takes 2-3 weeks to start protecting you .

The winner can collect from our Op Shop in Stanmore Bay, North Shore, or West Harbour. For North Shore or West Harbour collection, please note we will need 1-2 weeks to get the prize to these locations.
