Mindset and motivation can be so simple.
This photo was all the motivation I needed to lose 30kgs.
It was taken when I was living in Japan. When I got the photo developed, a comment was made from a 'friend' when they saw the pic. They said, “Have you noticed that your plate is empty and everyone else still has food on theirs...”
Honestly…how rude!
But the annoying thing was… it was true.
I always ate quickly.
I was always the first to finish.
And if I’m honest, I probably ate more than everyone else too.
That one comment made me really aware of my eating habits, so I put this photo beside my dining table.
Every night after dinner, when I was sitting there thinking:
“Mmmmm… I want more…”
…I would look at this photo and think:
“Maybe not.”
“I’m not even that hungry.”
“I don’t need more.”
I didn’t want to be the biggest friend in my group who always ate the most and finished first.
And it worked. Within one year, I had lost 30kgs. 🥳💥
Over time, I got used to having one plate of food for dinner and feeling satisfied with that.
And apart from pregnancy, I’ve kept that 30kgs off for 25 years now.
It’s amazing how powerful simple visual reminders can be.
If you have a photo that motivates you… put it where you can see it often.
On your fridge.
Beside your dining table.
As your phone wallpaper.
These little mindset hooks are powerful.
