Today's highlight: Dysgraphia
Dysgraphia is a learning difference that affects writing — not intelligence. Many children with dysgraphia have great ideas but struggle to get them onto paper.
It can look like:
- Messy or slow handwriting
- Difficulty spelling or organising ideas
- Fatigue, frustration, or avoidance of writing
- Feeling misunderstood or judged at school
Strengths:
+ Strong verbal skills
+ Creativity and imagination
+ Big‑picture thinking
+ Problem‑solving abilities
How we can support at school:
+ Reduce unnecessary writing
+ Offer alternatives (oral responses, typing, speech‑to‑text)
+ Focus on ideas, not neatness
+ Build confidence through strengths
When we change how children show what they know, we help them feel capable, understood, and successful.
