It's great to see neck injury is now finally being recognised as a potential cause of concussion symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, tinnitus and foggy head. This is something we have seen clinically and helped our patients with for some time now.

Is it Concussion or a Neck Injury? A new study published by University at Buffalo medical faculty finds that many of the same symptoms are common to concussions and to injuries to the neck. People who have had neck injuries can also have problems with concentration and with memory. They feel like th...

Headache and Migraine Clinic Level 4 Closure

We are unable to continue face to face treatments during Level 4 and Level 3 lockdowns. I know this is disappointing for many of our patients who have just started or were scheduled to start treatment this week.

During lockdown keeping your routines and making progress are import for your mental and physical health.
If you have any queries, please do email us at admin@migraineclinic.co.nz and we will get in touch with you.

In the meantime please continue to work on your posture and corrective exercises.

What You Need to Do
• If you have a scheduled appointment during Level 4 or Level 3, you will receive a text advising you that your appointment has been cancelled.
• There's no need to contact us to cancel appointments, and no cancellation fees apply during this time.

We'll email you again as events unfold in the coming days - keep an eye on Facebook too.

Thank you for all your continued support, it's so appreciated.
We look forward to seeing you back in the clinic at Level 2.

There have been more than 300 headache types described, but can there really be 300 different causes? Disorders of the upper neck have been shown to be an underlying cause of headache and migraine. Having a skilled assessment of your neck by a trained Watson Headache Practitioner can rule in or out your neck as the cause of your head pain. CALL us or SIGN UP at www.migraineclinic.co.nz for a free phone call with one of our experienced clinicians - treating headache and migraine is what we do.

Level 3 again!! Sadly we are unable to offer our face to face consultations during this time.

When so many of you are working from home, don't forget to get up, stretch and move often.

Your home work station set up is vital for good head and neck posture. Please check out our work station handout below. Hope to see you all again soon🙂

Just a reminder to all our patients, Level 3 means sadly, we cannot work one on one with you in the clinic. If you had an appointment booked for Monday 15th, Tuesday 16th or Wednesday 17th February, you should by now have received a text advising that your appointment has been cancelled.
We will be in touch with you again, as soon as the Level 2 start date is announced. If you need to get in touch, please email admin@newlynnphysio.co.nz, we will have some limited admin cover over the next few days.
Thank you for your understanding, we hope it's ONLY 3 DAYS!

24/08/2020

We can’t wait to re-open our doors again on Monday 31st August.

We are currently working through our bookings, starting with those we have had to cancel due to lock down.

We will send you a new appointment booking either by phone or via our text reminder system, asking that you select Yes to confirm or No to reschedule. If you reply No, one of our lovely admin team will call you to book a suitable time. Please be patient as we are working through many bookings over the next few days.

• PLEASE if you or anyone in your household has any respiratory symptoms of COVID-19; a sore throat, runny nose, cough, fever, shortness of breath or a loss of smell, DO NOT come in, please call us as soon as possible to reschedule.

• PLEASE DO NOT COME IN if you have had any contact with anyone who: has had close contact with a confirmed or probable COVID-19 case, has returned from international travel, had direct contact with a person who has travelled overseas , worked on an international aircraft or shipping vessel or cleaned at an international airport or maritime port or in areas/ conveniences visited by international arrivals.

• We ask every patient coming into the clinic to sign in with the QR code scanning poster on the front door and at reception or to please fill out the COVID-19 contact tracing forms at reception.

• Please use the hand sanitiser provided as soon as you enter the clinic.

• To keep social distancing within the clinic, please come alone, without family or friends unless you are under the age of 16.

• You are welcome to wait in the clinic, but please keep at least 1 m apart from anyone else. You are welcome to wait outside or in your car if you would prefer, but just give us a wave from outside the clinic at first so we know you have arrived.

• Please wear a clean mask, we can supply masks if you do not have one for a small cost.

• Please wear suitable clothing, so that your physiotherapist can see your injury and the area around it, for example shorts for lower limb injuries and singlets for shoulders, backs, and necks.

• We will not be able to have any magazines in the waiting room, during Level 2.

• Please NO CASH, please pay by either eftpos or bank transfer at the time of your appointment. We are happy to provide our bank account number, that you can load into your online banking. Sorry, we do not have pay Wave available. The eftpos machine will be cleaned with medical grade wipes/disinfectant spray between each use.

• All physio beds and equipment will be thoroughly cleaned between each patient.

Lastly, thank you all for your support, it has been really hard for everyone in Auckland going through a second lock down. We are looking forward to seeing you all again and getting your Headache and Migraine treatment back on track.

So sad to hear we are moving back to Level 3 tomorrow!

Our staff will all be in at work tomorrow morning, treating our patients during the morning and contacting everyone else to reschedule their appointment. Unfortunately we don't know whether Level 3 will last 3 days or several weeks, so please do bear with us while we await further info from the Ministry of Health over the next few days.
Take care everyone.

Now that we are approaching Alert Level 3, we would like to keep you up to date with what is happening at The Headache and Migraine Clinic.

Whilst the clinic is closed and face to face appointments are not available, it has been very uplifting to see phone calls and emails coming in from our patients. We really enjoy just a ‘Hi, how are you going? when are you opening?’. Some of you may have seen on our website that we are continuing with online video consultations for new patients. These consultations have been proven to provide some great outcomes for our patients who are really suffering right now and are happy to receive the specific exercises and self-management advice that we include in our initial appointment session. Patient feedback has been very positive.

Once the country moves into level 2, we will be back in the clinic again. We have a good plan in place to enable us to provide treatment for our patients, while keeping everyone safe. Like so many other NZ businesses unable to operate during this time, we really appreciate every patient, please let us know how we can help you.

Thank you for supporting The Headache and Migraine Clinic.
