Have you wondered why little ones are often facing backwards in cars? It is because their bodies are not quite in proportion yet - with their heads equating to about 1/4 of total body mass. By facing towards the rear of the vehicle, their necks are more likely to be supported in a collision. This video is fascinating as shows the difference - check it out.

Did you know that anything unsecured in a vehicle becomes a projectile in an accident, and if you times the weight of the object by ten, then that's roughly the force of it potentially hitting your little one during impact?

To be honest we have been a bit too relaxed with what toys Z has in the car. We often give her Hot Wheels cars to hold - which would be very dangerous in an accident. We are going to stick to soft toys, or secured toys in the future.
