Fantastic News for the West Coast Wilderness Trail!
Thanks to the incredible support of Te Matapuna Waiora a Io Trust and a generous grant from a private trust, we’re delighted to announce that a Motom has been purchased for riders with accessibility needs on the West Coast Wilderness Trail. This will open up our trail to so many more people who otherwise may not be able to experience this amazing environment.
The Motom will be managed and cared for by Trustee, Cindy Hopper, and her family—right on the trail at West Coast Scenic Waterways.
We’ll be holding a special launch and christening this Tuesday. If you’d like to be part of this celebration, please send us a private message.
A huge shout out to Natalie Gauld and Cindy Hopper, who have championed this project every step of the way. Sincere thanks also to Natalie’s father Brian and the Trust that funded the purchase, to the Te Matapuna Waiora a Io Trustees for their support in applying for the funding, Mitre 10 Greymouth for helping with the storage shed, and Vehicle Adaptations, who manufactured the Motom, helped get it here and have been incredibly supportive throughout.
Details on how to book and use the Motom will be available soon via Cindy at West Coast Scenic Waterways.
We can’t wait to see this making the trail more accessible for everyone!

Something exciting is happening down in our shared Christchurch offices.

Our friends at Vehicle Adaptions have started producing these awesome machines called Motoms - a 3-wheeler built for outdoor adventure and freedom.

And guess what....they're loaning one to our Auckland office, so some of our Freedom Mobility customers, or anyone interested in Auckland, can trial it out.

Hayley had one goal this Summer: camping ⛺✨

She's been driving one of our left foot accelerator cars for a couple of years now - using it to get back to fishing and the things she loves.

But this Summer she had a bigger plan.....
👉 Camping.
👉 Caravan.
👉 Tow bar needed.

So back in November, Hayley and her OT got in touch and said:
"I'm ready - I just need the right car to make it happen"

The Mitsubishi Outlander was the perfect fit for her needs. Huge thanks to the team at Vehicle Adaptions for stepping in and helping make sure her wheelchair fitted perfectly to the boot lifter they had previously installed in the Outlander (always great sharing an office and workshop with you!).

Pick up day was full of smiles - and it wasn't just Hayley grinning. Margaret was just as thrilled. Because at Freedom Mobility, it's never just about handing over a vehicle - it's about helping people get where they want to go.

Last week, Hayley sent us this incredible photo - pure freedom, fresh air, and her best mate hanging out the passenger window.

Hayley, you're truly living the summer dream. Thanks for letting us be part of it.

Human dynamo, Sarah Choat 🏃‍♀️‍➡️, was stopped in her tracks by a ruptured Achilles. Until, that is, she got one of our hand-control cars. Cue her getting back to work as a teacher, running her own clothing business, and hitting the gym at 5.00am…phew! Read all about Sarah’s incredible journey here

After injuring her Achilles, teacher and clothing designer Sera of My Keeper, stayed mobile and kept earning with a hand control rental vehicle from Freedom Mobility.

A recent customer of ours, Bridgette, a nurse from coastal Whangarei, had a really nasty knee injury. After complex surgery, she looked online into how to get around and, fortunately, discovered us! Check out her story here.

After major patella surgery left her in a full leg brace, specialist nurse, Bridgette struggled with getting a round, relying on taxis. Freedom Mobility provided a quick cost-effective hand control car solution, giving her the independence she needed to stay active and speed up recovery. A win for b...
