This International Women's Day, our sites enjoyed shared morning tea and lunches to celebrate the incredible women in our network.

It was a special moment to recognise the dedication, strength, and kindness that the women in our teams bring to our workplace every day.

To mark the occasion, we are also proud to be supporting Woven Earth Trust, a refuge that provides support and safe housing for women and their families 💜

This weekend, some of our incredible women laced up their running shoes and took on Round the Bays in Auckland 🏃‍♀️

What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than coming together outside the workplace, supporting each other, and enjoying one of Auckland’s most iconic events.

We’re proud to work alongside such an inspiring group of women who bring dedication, strength, and positivity to our team every day, both in the office and out on the course.

Here’s to the amazing women around us who continue to support, uplift, and motivate one another.

Do you have coeliac disease and are you tired of being on a gluten free diet?

Coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition where eating gluten causes the immune system to react, leading to damage in the small intestine. For people living with coeliac disease, even small amounts of gluten can trigger symptoms and affect long-term health.

At Momentum Clinical Research, we conduct clinical research studies exploring new approaches that aim to prevent reactions to gluten. These studies contribute to a better understanding of coeliac disease and the development of future treatment options.

Ever wondered what clinical trials actually are and why they matter? 👩‍⚕️

Clinical trials evaluate new treatments and medications designed to prevent, diagnose, and treat a range of diseases and health conditions. They are an essential step in ensuring new approaches are safe, effective, and beneficial for patients before becoming widely available.

At Momentum Clinical Research, clinical trials are central to what we do, giving people the opportunity to contribute to medical progress and future treatment options.

Today we join the global community in recognising World COPD Day, led by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease - GOLD in partnership with health professionals and patient groups worldwide.

This year’s theme, “Short of Breath, Think COPD,” highlights an important truth:
👉 COPD is the 3rd leading cause of death worldwide, yet it often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.
👉 Early diagnosis can significantly improve symptoms, lung function, and overall quality of life.
COPD may be under-recognised, but it is preventable and treatable. A diagnosis should be considered in people with:
🌬 Shortness of breath
🌬 Chronic cough or sputum
🌬 Frequent chest infections
🌬 Exposure to smoke, cooking fuels, or workplace hazards

At Momentum Clinical Research, we are committed to advancing research that helps improve diagnosis, treatment, and future care options for people living with chronic respiratory conditions.
Let’s raise awareness, encourage earlier detection, and support those affected.

Together we can reduce the burden of COPD. One conversation, one diagnosis, one study at a time.

Why clinical research matters – and how you can be part of it
At Momentum Clinical Research, everything we do starts with people like you.

This is Bruno’s story. He took part in a clinical trial with us and found it not only helped him personally, but also gave him the satisfaction of knowing he was contributing to something bigger – helping bring a new medication to others who need it.

Every clinical trial relies on participants who are willing to take part. Your involvement has the power to move medicine forward, to create options for people who don’t yet have them, and to make a real difference in the lives of others.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be part of a clinical trial, or how you can help advance future medicines, stories like Bruno’s show just how impactful your involvement can be.
Together, we’re shaping the future of healthcare.

P3 Research has united with Australia’s renowned AusTrials and Holdsworth House to form Momentum Clinical Research.

P3 Research’s name will change to Momentum Clinical Research from the 1st of July 2024.

What does this mean for our Participants?
Our Momentum network of 13 sites across New Zealand and Australia enables us to bring more research studies to the region and help accelerate the development of new medicines that are needed by our communities.

Our Mission: To deliver people-centered research and clinical excellence at scale, making meaningful, positive impact in people's lives.

Our promise to you:
We will continue to provide the same local expertise, care and ethical processes but with support from a wider Australasian network.

Rest assured, our name may be changing but our studies will continue to follow the same ethical processes and deliver the same exceptional care by our local experts.

If you are currently enrolled in a study with P3 Research, there will be no change to your clinical visits, contacts or the design of the study you are involved in. If you do have any questions, please contact your study coordinator.

We are excited to begin this new chapter alongside the partners and participants that we have worked with over the past 20 years.

Today at P3 Research we celebrate the scientists, researchers, healthcare professionals, and participants who make clinical trials and medical advancement possible.

Chief Medical Officer, Prof Richard Stubbs spoke last week to Radio NZ to discuss the tremendously rewarding work conducted by Momentum staff across the 13 research sites in New Zealand and Australia.

"Our staff are doctors and nurses from all around the country who are incredibly enthusiastic and passionate about the work we do. We think what we do is important and will bring forward the day that there will be better medications for a vast majority of conditions."

Dr Stubbs also spoke about the prevalence of rare disorders in New Zealand and the multiple barriers to treatment that these patients face including limited access to publicly funded medicine.

"Clinical trials can provide an opportunity for individuals to gain access to the best available medicines today and potentially to investigational medicines that could prove to be even better. "

"Our spread of research sites across NZ and Australia means if there are clinical trials or new medications coming available, then through our network we can take them to where people live. Therefore the opportunity to participate in clinical trials for relatively rare conditions becomes an option."

Clinical trials have come a long way since 1774 when James Lind, a ship's surgeon in the British Royal Navy started what is often considered to be the first randomized clinical trial. Lind found a cure for scurvy after carrying out a clinical trial in just 12 people, of whom two received the active treatment of citrus fruit to treat the disease caused by vitamin C deficiency.
