It’s election year — and good mental health policy has never mattered more.

Our Chief Executive, Shaun, lives with bipolar disorder. He knows to prevent mental distress, it’s vital we have our basic needs met. Things like a job, enough income, and a home.

But not everyone has access to these things - and this just isn’t right. It also negatively impacts mental health.

Good policy, this election can change issues around housing security and homelessness, for the better. We’ve got the solutions – and we’ve sent them to all 123 MPs.

If Cyclone Vaianu has you feeling a bit on edge, you’re definitely not the only one. When there's so much uncertainty, it's normal to feel unsettled, anxious, or tired.

Try to take things one step at a time – a few slow breaths, checking in with neighbours or loved ones, and keeping up with official advice on how to prepare can all help you feel a bit more steady.

It’s election year — and MPs are writing mental health policies, as we speak.

Mental health policy is more than long, boring documents. It’s about developing good solutions to the problems we all face - like whether we can access the mental health support we deserve, when and where we need it.

Bad policy can lead to outcomes like young New Zealanders having the longest wait times for mental health services and supports – despite having the country’s highest rates of mental health challenges.

But good policy can change lives.

We’re asking MPs to develop better mental health policy this election – with our guidance.

It’s election year — and mental health needs to be on the agenda.

Mental health is something we all have. Learning how to care for it early on in our lives can make a huge difference to our wellbeing long-term.

Imagine tamariki (children) learning how to care for their wellbeing, navigate big feelings, and support each other from day one, through free mental wellbeing promotion programmes at school.

This is one of many actions we’re calling for MPs to commit to this election.

75% of young people say mental health is the biggest issue their generation faces.

The Government’s new draft health and physical education curriculum will deprioritise mental health and wellbeing and risk the safety of already marginalised students.

If you believe our tamariki and rangatahi deserve to feel safe, included and affirmed at school, make a public submission before Friday, 24 April. Tap the link in bio to have your say.

It’s World Bipolar Day, and to help grow awareness, our Chief Executive Shaun Robinson shares his lived experience of bipolar.

Sharing personal stories can help build understanding, challenge stigma, and remind us that support and connection matter.

📢 This year is an election year 📢

Which means that truly understanding the mental health and addiction challenges our nation faces - and how to address them - is more important now, than ever.

We’re soon launching a series of election advocacy tips, tools and resources to help you:
