We are a team of researchers from AUT, seeking to hear from people who support people who have been pregnant, experienced pregnancy loss, or have given birth and who experience pregnancy, post-natal or birth-related distress (such as depression, anxiety, OCD or trauma).

We would like to hear about your perspectives of wellbeing and distress, and how distress is picked up or screened, and how we could do this better (including what is missing from our current screening methods).

Participation is by a confidential interview with a member of the research team at a time that suits you.

We will use what we learn to build a better screening tool for Aotearoa so that people experiencing this distress can be identified earlier.

We are a team of researchers at AUT conducting research and are seeking to hear from people who have been pregnant, experienced pregnancy loss, or have given birth in the last four years and have experienced pregnancy-related distress (such as depression, anxiety, OCD or trauma) or whānau/support people who have supported someone experiencing distress or have experienced this distress themselves. We would like to hear about your perspectives of wellbeing (mauri ora) and of distress (mauri noho), and how the distress was picked up by healthcare professionals (if it was). We would also like to hear your views about how healthcare professionals could better pick up when someone is distressed. There are two ways to be part of this project; by a confidential interview or by doing an online anonymous survey.

You may have noticed that my activity level on here has dropped. Many of you know why but for those that don't, my 8-year-old son was diagnosed with a aggressive brain tumour over the Christmas holiday period. This means that I am spending as much time with him as I can and not taking on new clients at the moment.

If you are looking for a clinical psychologist, please check the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists site for the list of providers.

Boy with "sparkle in his eyes" diagnosed with inoperable brain tumor just after Christmas.

We are researchers through AUT exploring the experience of hospitalisation for people with intellectual disabilities and want to hear your view. We are hoping that this study will help to better support people with intellectual disabilities when when they are in hospital.

You can participate by being interviewed by a member of the research team or by completing an online survey. To do an interview, please email liesje.donkin@aut.ac.nz to arrange.

Do you know someone with an intellectual disability? Or know someone who supports someone with an intellectual disability. We are looking to interview people with intellectual disabilities, their caregivers, and people who provide support to people with intellectual disabilities when they are in hospital to try to better understand this experience and how it can be improved. If you are someone or know of someone who might be willing to be interviewed, please email me or ask the person to email me on liesje.donkin@aut.ac.nz

An alternative way to participate is by survey (although we are particularly keen to find people to interview). The survey links can be found below...
