HELLO 👋🏼

Lots of new followers here, so I want to introduce myself!

Hi I’m Holly

I’m a personal trainer, nutritionist and naturopath. I love to lift heavy things, climb mountains and eat good food.

I used to think I had to do endless hiit classes and only eat 1200 calories in order to get lean and toned.

Turns out in doing those things I sacrificed the one thing that makes someone lean and toned.

Muscle mass.

I now know that lifting heavy weights, eating enough protein and food in general is what’s given me the body I’ve wanted all along.

And while I’m gaining the aesthetics i want, even more than that I’ve gained a healthy relationship with food, exercise and my body and I want you to gain that too.

When we constantly chase weight loss we compromise the potential of our future health, wellbeing and body composition. Because with weight loss we also sacrifice our muscle mass, strength & energy output capacity.

Fat loss should be done in short phases and the majority of our time should be spent building and maintaining muscle in order to have well balanced hormones, healthy glucose management, nourishing sleep, increased energy and the benefits go on and on and on.

When we focus on gaining rather than losing we also shift our mindset in how we approach our training and our nutrition - we can lean into enjoying the process and the foods we love, rather than being stuck in a restrictive mindset.

So you want to get toned?

Yes, FAT loss is required, but if you don’t have the muscle mass underneath and you go and lose the fat, you’re not going to look how you want to look anyway.

In order to achieve that “toned” look, you need muscle mass on your structure. In order to have muscle mass on your structure, you will need to build that over time by lifting weights and eating more food (in the right macro split).

We, my past self included, have been fooled by the billion-dollar fitness industry into thinking that if we just eat less and do more we will get that toned, sculpted look. But actually, it takes heavy work and eating enough food to support your activity level (and then some) in order to build muscle FIRST. Once you have that, then you can lose the fat and reveal your hard-earned muscle.

This is my mission as a practitioner and coach - to teach women the right way to get toned & feel confident in their body, both in how it looks & what it can do. BIG BREAK-OF-THE-FAST

I know I’ve been rattling on about how important getting a high protein breakfast is to set you up for a day full of energy, balanced moods & a calm nervous system (among so much more) but what does 30-40g pf protein at breakfast actually look like?? I’m a big lover of eggs, but the typical 2 is simply not enough. 2 eggs will give you around 12g of protein, so they need to be paired with more eggs or some other high protein options. I also suggest we move out of the “breakfast food” paradigm - nothing wrong with steak or chicken for breakfast along side carbohydrates and fats. Here’s my favourite go-to breakfast combos:

-       3 eggs + 1/2 cup egg whites scrambled/frittata with veg (mushies, capsicum, tomato & onion) & a carb (toast, English muffin, potato, kumera, fruit).
-       Oats + 2 eggs cooked in + protein shake
-       Oats + protein powder (1.5-2 scoops depending on brand)
-       Hard boiled eggs (3 whole + 2 whites) + carb/fruit
-       100g Turkey/chicken mince + 2 sunnyside eggs + veg + carb
-       Protein powder smoothie (1-2 scoops depending on brand) + fruit + cinnamon + nut butter
-       Other high protein add-ins that can help reach the goal: low fat Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese, swiss cheese, ham, bacon.
