A few weeks ago, we shared that we had started exploring Emulin5, a plant-based supplement developed to support the body’s natural handling of sugars and carbohydrates. We promised to keep you updated as we trialled it ourselves and today we wanted to share some observations from Melissa’s journey so far. 🙌

As many of you know, Melissa has lived with Type 1 Diabetes for 18 years and managing blood sugar is an everyday balancing act. Normally, even something as simple as a cup of tea with milk and sugar requires 4 units of short-acting insulin. Short-acting insulin only lasts about 4 hours, which means that throughout the day, additional insulin doses are always needed — even with low-carb meals.

But on Sunday, Melissa noticed something unusual. After taking her long-acting insulin and her usual 4 units at 10:30 a.m., she realised at 6:00 p.m. that she had not taken any further short-acting insulin all day. That’s an 8-hour stretch — double the time her short-acting insulin would normally cover and her sugars were stable at around 7.8 mmol/L at that time.

The data confirmed what she was seeing:
📊 Over the last 90 days, Melissa’s time in her target range (4.5–10.0 mmol/L) was 51%.
📊 In the last 7 days, that improved to 69%.

While this is just Melissa’s personal experience and not a medical claim, it does reflect how Emulin5 may support carbohydrate metabolism, help manage blood sugar balance, and assist the body’s natural inflammatory response.

🔬 Why is this significant?
Emulin5 works across seven key pathways related to carbohydrate metabolism — including starch conversion, glucose absorption, insulin sensitivity and fat formation. Rather than targeting just one mechanism, it provides multi-level support to help the body handle carbs more effectively.

🌱 What’s inside Emulin5?

• Chlorogenic Acid (Coffee Arabica)
• Myricetin (Myrica cerifera)
• Quercetin (Japanese pagoda flower)
• Lactobacillus plantarum (probiotic, 5 Billion CFU)
• Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

📌 Compliance note: Emulin5 is not a cure or replacement for medication. It is officially a TGA-listed medicine in Australia (AUST L 481850), which means you can look it up directly on the TGA website for all the approved details.

At Imagine Healing, we remain committed to sharing only products we personally test, research, and believe align with holistic care. These early results have been encouraging, and we’ll continue to share updates as we learn more.

💬 If you’d like to know more about Emulin5 and the science behind it, feel free to reach out — we’re always happy to provide education and resources.

Aspartame – Safe or Best Avoided?

Aspartame is one of the most common artificial sweeteners, found in diet sodas, sugar-free gum and “low-calorie” foods. Health authorities like the FDA, EFSA and WHO say it’s safe in moderation. But does “safe” always mean ideal?

Yes, aspartame breaks down into methanol and eventually formaldehyde — but only in very small amounts. For perspective, a glass of tomato juice naturally contains more methanol than a can of diet soda. 🍅

🔺 Important note: People with a rare genetic condition called Phenylketonuria (PKU) cannot break down phenylalanine, one of aspartame’s components. For them, even small amounts can be dangerous, which is why all aspartame-containing products carry a PKU warning.

For the rest of us, the issue isn’t the occasional treat. It’s when artificial additives like this become a daily habit. Over time, they can add stress to the body, especially if you’re already dealing with inflammation, gut imbalances, or blood sugar challenges.

Better options for sweetness:
🔸Stevia – plant-based, zero calories, safe for diabetics.
🔸Monk Fruit – natural, non-glycaemic sweetener.
🔸Raw Honey or Pure Maple Syrup – still sugar, but less processed with extra minerals & antioxidants.
🔸Fruit purées – banana, apple, or dates for baking & cooking.

Bottom line:
Aspartame isn’t the instant “poison” some posts suggest, but it also doesn’t nourish your body. For most people, small amounts now and then are fine — but when you can, nature offers far better alternatives that actually support health and healing. 🌱

🌱 Supporting Healthy Weight, Naturally – The GLP-1 Way.

We are passionate about helping clients find sustainable and natural solutions for weight management and overall wellness.

De Ville, our qualified Naturopath with 18 years of clinical experience in South Africa, has worked extensively with both conventional medicine and natural medicine. This unique background means he understands how to combine the best of both worlds to support your health safely and effectively. 🩺

Recently, he introduced a specific combination of natural products into his own wellness routine and started noticing gradual, healthy weight loss. These products work by supporting your body’s own production of GLP-1, the same gut hormone targeted by prescription medications like Ozempic and Wegovy, but naturally and without the side effects.

Why this combination is unique
We chose this specific blend because it doesn’t just "add another supplement" — it actively supports your body’s GLP-1 response for blood sugar balance, satiety and metabolism:

▪️Berberine Advance (Coyne) – Activates your body’s “master switch” for fat burning (AMPK) and has been shown in studies to stimulate natural GLP-1 production.
▪️Origine 8® Green Tea Extract – Included in Berberine Advance to further enhance GLP-1 release, improve digestion, boost metabolism, and fight oxidative stress.
▪️Natroceutics Bergamot – A citrus polyphenol extract that targets visceral (belly) fat, supports healthy cholesterol levels, and improves insulin sensitivity.

Benefits beyond weight management
✔ Supports blood sugar balance & insulin sensitivity
✔ Helps reduce stubborn visceral fat
✔ Supports cholesterol & triglyceride levels
✔ Provides antioxidant protection
✔ Promotes liver & cardiovascular health

Backed by research:
▪️Berberine: Over 50 clinical studies support its benefits for metabolic health, blood sugar, and cholesterol, with evidence of GLP-1 stimulation.
▪️Bergamot: Dozens of studies show improvements in weight, waist circumference, and lipid profiles.
▪️Origine 8® Green Tea: Well-researched for metabolism, antioxidant support, and superior absorption.

Pricing & Dosage
▪️Package (Berberine Advance + Bergamot): $134.80 + postage for a one-month supply (includes a 10% discount until 31 August).
▪️Dosage: 1 capsule of each, twice daily.

We Want To Create A Peaceful Waiting Space, Can You Help Us? 🏞️

Hi everyone!

We’re working on creating a serene little waiting area outside our clinic so clients have a comfy spot to sit while they wait for their appointment with De Ville, since we don’t have a designated indoor waiting area.

We’ve been keeping an eye on Marketplace, but we often miss out on things before we can collect them – so we thought we’d reach out locally to see if anyone has items they’d like to rehome. 🙌

We’re more than happy to pay (our budget isn’t huge) or even swap for an acupuncture session or two 😉 – we prefer reusing and repurposing where we can instead of buying new.

What we’re looking for:
▪️ A bench seat, sofa or a couple of sturdy outdoor chairs 🛋️
▪️ Planter pots (any size – chipped is fine!)
▪️ Succulents or other hardy, low-maintenance plants 🪴
▪️ An outdoor rug or mat
▪️ A small side table
▪️ Solar fairy lights or lanterns 🏮

If you have something sitting in a shed or garage that could have a new life in our little space, we’d be so grateful... And if you’re creative and this sounds like a fun mini project, we’d love to hear your suggestions too! 🌈

Thank you. 💙

— Mel & De Ville

We’re always looking for tools that truly support the body, especially when they’re backed by science and naturally formulated.
We’re quite selective about what we choose to explore but we do get curious when something truly innovative crosses our path… 💙

Recently, we came across Emulin5™ and it immediately caught our attention - especially because Melissa is a Type 1 Diabetic and this one stood out. After De Ville did his usual deep-dive research, we decided to try it for ourselves. We’re genuinely excited to see what it does for us.

🔬 What is Emulin5™?
It’s a plant-based blend developed by Nobel Prize-nominated scientist Dr. Joseph Ahrens, designed to help the body manage carbs and sugars more effectively, from the inside out.
It works at a cellular level, helping reduce inflammation, increase insulin sensitivity and regulate how your body handles glucose. This isn’t a "quick fix" - it’s a supportive tool for people who are serious about long-term health.

🩺 What drew us to it?
Let’s be honest, our modern food system isn’t exactly built for metabolic health. Refined carbs, hidden sugars and chronic stress all add up and even people living a healthy lifestyle are struggling with blood sugar spikes, fatigue and inflammation.

That’s where Emulin5 comes in. It doesn’t replace good nutrition, it works alongside it, assisting your body to handle sugars the way nature intended.

🌱 What’s in it?
Emulin5 is a plant-based supplement designed to support how the body handles carbohydrates, inflammation and overall metabolic function. It's not a medication or a quick fix - but it may be a helpful tool for those wanting to support their body more effectively, especially in today's carb-heavy world.

💊 Each capsule contains five key ingredients:
• Chlorogenic Acid (from Coffee Arabica)
• Myricetin (from Myrica cerifera)
• Quercetin (from Japanese pagoda flower)
• Lactobacillus plantarum (probiotic – 5 Billion CFU)
• Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

📢 Some of the reported benefits include:
• Supporting sugar and carb metabolism.
• Reducing systemic inflammation.
• Supporting blood sugar balance and energy.
• Assisting with insulin sensitivity and fat metabolism.
• Helping reduce the risk of insulin resistance over time.

We’re genuinely excited to have this in our hands (literally) and to be exploring it from a place of informed, holistic care. We’re committed to only sharing products we’ve either personally tested or taken the time to investigate properly. If it’s not well-researched and aligned with our values, it simply doesn’t make the cut. If this one proves to be as impactful as we believe it might be – especially when it comes to blood sugar support – we’ll absolutely keep you posted on our experience.

If you're someone who struggles with energy dips, cravings, gut issues, metabolic health - or if you’re already on a wellness journey and want to go deeper - this could be worth learning more about.

Let us know if you have any questions or are curious - we're happy to share what we learn along the way!

🌤️ Why Vitamin D Might Be Your Best Winter Ally

As the days grow shorter and colder, many of us naturally spend more time indoors, which also means less exposure to sunlight and unfortunately, lower levels of Vitamin D.

But did you know that Vitamin D is one of your immune system’s key defenders, especially when it comes to viral respiratory infections like influenza and the common cold?

Here’s why Vitamin D matters this winter:
• It strengthens your immune response and helps reduce inflammation.
• It supports healthy lung function and may reduce the risk and severity of viral infections.
• Research shows that optimal Vitamin D levels are linked with fewer respiratory complications.

☀️ Not all Vitamin D is created equal
Most over-the-counter supplements contain Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). While this form is helpful, it can take up to 4 weeks to noticeably raise your blood levels, especially if you're already deficient.

For those needing faster support, we offer Calcifediol, a highly bioavailable form of Vitamin D that raises blood levels within hours, not weeks. This can be particularly helpful when your body needs urgent immune support.

🩺 Calcifediol is available through Imagine Healing by prescription only.

If you’re unsure where your Vitamin D levels sit, we offer testing and personalised recommendations to help keep your immune system strong all winter long.

Stay well. Stay resilient. Let’s support your health naturally, from the inside out. 🌱

📢 We’re excited to announce that we are relocating to a new space in Springlands!

We specifically chose this property because it includes a separate sleepout, which will now be the new home of our clinic. It’s located down the driveway next to the garage, completely separate from the house, offering you more privacy and a dedicated treatment space.

The clinic will be closed for a few days while we move and get set up. We are excited to welcome you to the new space from the 15th of July 2025.

And yes, you might still hear the occasional bark from Thor & Xena or our daughter negotiating nap time, but it will definitely be quieter than before. 😅

Thank you for your continued support as we grow into this next chapter!

Breast Health Awareness: Understanding Lumps, Knots and Pain 🩷

Did you know that most women have lumps or knots in their breasts? Many of these are completely normal and benign, but it's important to know how to recognise when something might need closer attention.

What’s Normal? Lumps that feel movable or soft are typically harmless and might be related to hormonal changes, like during your menstrual cycle. These are usually not a cause for concern.

What to Watch For:

🌸 Movable lumps: Often benign, these may change during your menstrual cycle.

🌸 Fixed or hard lumps: If a lump feels immovable or stuck in place, it could require further investigation.

But what about pain?

Many women think that pain in the breasts automatically means cancer, but that's not the case. Breast cancer is typically painless in its early stages. While it’s true that pain can sometimes be associated with benign conditions like hormonal changes, cysts, or infections, it’s rare for pain to be linked to cancer.

If you're experiencing breast pain, it doesn't necessarily mean something serious, but it's still important to monitor any changes and speak with a healthcare provider if you're concerned.

Key Takeaways:

🌸 Pain is usually not a sign of cancer, but it’s always important to pay attention to any changes in your breasts, whether it’s pain, lumps, or other symptoms.

🌸 Fixed, hard lumps might need further attention, even if they aren’t painful.

🌸 Always consult with a healthcare provider for any concerns or changes in your breast health.

Early detection through regular check-ups and self-exams can help provide peace of mind and ensure your health is being taken care of. 🩷

We’ve recently started using NZ Fulvic™ so we thought we’d share a little more about what it is and why we love it.

If you’re already living a healthy lifestyle, eating clean, or taking high-quality supplements, NZ Fulvic is a powerful addition that helps your body actually absorb and benefit from all that goodness.

Here’s what makes it special:

• Supports Nutrient Absorption – helps your cells actually use the nutrients you take in.
• Detoxes Heavy Metals – clears out what might block or disrupt your body’s balance.
• Boosts Natural Energy – not a stimulant, but real, cellular energy.
• Improves Gut Health – where immunity and absorption begin.
• Balances Electrolytes – important for hydration, muscle function & vitality.
• Supports Cognitive Health – clear focus and reduced brain fog.

Fulvic Acid is a natural compound formed from plant material that has broken down over thousands of years. What makes NZ Fulvic™ unique is its source:
It’s extracted from the ancient, mineral-rich volcanic soil of New Zealand, one of the most untouched, nutrient-dense environments in the world. No chemicals, just pure Fulvic, activated with water.

We’re using it because we believe absorption is the missing link in many people’s health journeys, thanks to modern stress, gut issues, toxins and depleted soil.. It’s not always about taking more, it’s about getting more from what you already take.

If you’re curious about how it can support your wellness journey, feel free to reach out, we’re happy to help guide you.

Women Heart Attack Symptoms Are Different Than In Men

We read something about this topic recently and it got us thinking, how many women (and even the people who love them) truly know what a heart attack in a woman can look and feel like?

The truth is, female heart attacks often look very different to what we see in the movies… and very different to male symptoms. That’s why so many women don’t realise they’re having one, until it’s too late.

So today, we want to share something that could genuinely save lives. Not to scare you, but to empower you with knowledge.

Heart Attack Symptoms in Women
(They’re often more subtle, more "strange" and easier to dismiss.)

1. Chest discomfort
🩷 It might not feel like pain at all. It could be pressure, tightness or a feeling of fullness in the chest.
🩷 It might come and go.

2. Pain in other areas
🩷 Pain or discomfort may spread to the jaw, neck, shoulders, upper back or arms (especially the left).
🩷 Some women only feel pain in these areas and none in the chest.

3. Unexplained fatigue
🩷 Feeling unusually tired, even if you’ve rested.
🩷 You might feel heavy, drained or unable to do simple tasks.
🩷 This can occur days or even weeks before the attack.

4. Shortness of breath
🩷 Often without chest pain.
🩷 You may feel like you can’t get a full breath or are breathing faster than usual.

5. Nausea or indigestion-like discomfort
🩷 You might feel like you have heartburn, acid reflux or a stomach bug.
*Many women chalk this up to something they ate or stress.*

6. Dizziness or lightheadedness
🩷 You may feel faint, unsteady or like you're going to pass out.

7. Cold sweats
🩷 Breaking out in a sweat with no reason, especially alongside other symptoms.

Here’s the most important thing to remember:
If something feels “off” or unlike anything you’ve felt before, don’t ignore it. Don’t wait. Call emergency services. Even if you’re not 100% sure, it’s better to be safe.

What to Do:

1. Call emergency services immediately.
Don’t delay. Even if you're unsure, it’s better to be wrong than too late.

2. Unlock your front door.
Do this before you sit or lie down. If you lose consciousness, emergency responders must be able to get in quickly.

3. Take an aspirin (if advised, not allergic and not told by your doctor to avoid it). Chew it (don’t swallow whole). This helps slow clot growth and improve your chances of survival.

4. Sit upright with your back supported.
Don’t lie flat unless you feel faint or are instructed to. Sitting helps reduce heart strain and supports breathing.

5. Try to stay calm and still.
Avoid movement, let your heart work as little as possible while help is on the way.

You matter. Your health matters. Trust your intuition. And please, share this with the women in your life, because heart attacks don’t always shout - sometimes, they whisper.
