We believe it is the small personal details that matter when arranging a funeral and it is the extra service that we provide, that makes the difference. We offer a full range of funeral facilities and amenities, with the large and modern Mayfield Chapel available for services, a dedicated catering lounge and crematorium. Sowman’s cater for all from the Marlborough Sounds through to Kaikoura and the surrounding areas.Our services include burials, cremations and full monumental supply. Sowman Monumental are registered Monumental Masons who can supply quality workmanship for memorialisation, and offer additional services such as restoration and repair.

It’s more than just a tree - it’s why the Elm takes pride of place in our logo, a living emblem of strength and the cycles of life we honour at Sowman’s Funerals.

Since 1869, we’ve proudly stood alongside the Marlborough community as Geoffrey T Sowman Funeral Directors. Today, we’re embracing a small change with a big meaning – we’re now Sowman's Funerals.

Our name may be a little shorter, but our commitment remains exactly the same: caring for families with compassion, respect, and dignity, just as we have for over 150 years.

Today our very own Georgia and Chelsea represented the Sowmans team for the HopeWalk Blenheim – a powerful movement of HOPE that shines a light on su***de awareness and connects our community with prevention agencies and support organisations. 💛

It’s a very special movement to be part of, reminding us all that hope is stronger when we walk together.

Earlier this evening, Chelsea and Tim had the privilege of representing Sowmans at the annual Thanksgiving Service hosted by Otago University, this year held in Christchurch.

This special service is an opportunity for the university’s Anatomy Department to honour and thank those who have made the extraordinary and selfless gift of donating their body to medical science for teaching and research.

As Marlborough’s local partner for this programme, we’re proud to support an initiative that has such a lasting impact on the future of healthcare and education.

Our Funeral Director Bob is riding for Blue September!

Yes we realise that September is not quite here yet, but some are already gearing up for when it comes!

Here at Sowmans, we all agree that Bob is our fittest team member by far and would run rings around the rest of us! He loves a good bike ride, so why not ride to raise money for a great cause!

Your support would help to provide research for treating and diagnosing prostate cancer, along with support for people affected by a diagnosis.
Plus you'll be helping raise awareness, so more blokes know the “why” and “how” to get tested.

Prostate Cancer is the most diagnosed cancer for blokes in NZ!
