A lot of women already have plenty of skincare by the time they come to me.

That is usually not the problem.

One client put it really well. She said she’d always had a full regimen of products, but it never felt right or complete.
That made complete sense to me.

I knew exactly what she meant, because I see this often. There’s no lack of effort. There are products lined up in the bathroom, steps, good intentions, and still the skin does not feel properly balanced.

Sometimes there are too many active things all trying to do different jobs. Sometimes one basic support step is missing. Sometimes the routine sounds good, but it does not actually suit the skin anymore.

Too many mixed messages.

And I think that is where people get stuck. They assume the answer must be something extra, when often it is the opposite.
Usually, a good routine is a bit simpler than people expect.

Went to Christchurch and made several good decisions..

Caught up with Charlotte and started the weekend with a FaceUp, which was an excellent call.😉

Charlotte has created such a lovely space. Calm, polished, considered, and very easy to settle into and relax. And, she’s excellent at what she does.

Photo was straight after the treatment, so yes, I’m a little pink and flushed in a good way but I also think it shows the treatment properly.

The rest of the weekend involved food, some retail, the other kind of “therapy”, and a walk in the park.

I’m seeing a post-summer rush for Clinical Needling (Microneedling), but not everyone is ready yet.

One thing that makes the biggest difference is timing. A great needling result often comes down to barrier readiness. If your skin has had a bit too much sun, wind, salt, or over-exfoliation, it can be more reactive, and recovery could not go as smoothly.

I prepare your skin for outcomes, not by doing more but by doing the right basics first.

Healing the skin likes a minimalist approach, fewer steps and ingredients that support the barrier.

And it helps to remember: barrier repair isn’t a straight line.
It’s a bit like the stock market; you can have day-to-day dips, but what matters is the overall trend. The mistake is “panic selling or buying”… changing everything the moment your skin has a wobbly day.

This matters especially after over-exfoliation, sun/wind/salt exposure, or when you’ve tried something new and your skin has started reacting. Add in hot showers, too much cleansing, or layering actives, and recovery can get a bit challenging.
