One of the first things people ask before trying acupuncture is, what does it feel like?
And honestly, most people are surprised by how gentle it is.
Acupuncture needles are extremely fine, much thinner than the needles used for injections or blood tests. In this video, I’ve compared them to a few everyday objects to help show just how tiny they really are 👀
Everyone experiences treatment a little differently, but common sensations can include:
* buzzing sensations
* radiating sensations
* tingling
* a dull ache
* deep relaxation
Many people even fall asleep during treatment 🌙

FAQ: How many acupuncture sessions will I need?
This is one of the most common questions I get, and the honest answer is: it depends.
Every person, body, and condition is different. Factors like how long symptoms have been present, your overall health, stress levels, sleep, lifestyle, and the nature of the condition all play a role in how quickly the body responds to treatment.
Generally speaking, more acute or recent issues may improve more quickly, while chronic or long-standing patterns often need more consistency and support over time.
Some people notice changes after their first few sessions. For others, healing can be more gradual, especially when the body has been under stress for a long time.
Acupuncture isn’t usually about a quick fix. It’s about supporting the body toward longer-term balance and sustainable improvement.
One of the most important parts of treatment is consistency, especially in the beginning stages.
If you’re unsure where to start or what treatment may look like for you specifically, I’m always happy to chat 🌿

Stress doesn’t always show up as feeling stressed.
Sometimes it looks like bloating after meals.‹Tight shoulders and jaw tension.‹Feeling exhausted no matter how much you sleep.‹Feeling reactive, overwhelmed, or constantly on edge.
We often think stress is purely emotional, but the body experiences it physically too.
When the nervous system spends too long in survival mode, the effects can begin to ripple through different systems of the body, especially digestion, sleep, muscle tension, energy levels, and emotional regulation.
In Chinese Medicine, we look at these symptoms as connected rather than isolated. Your body is constantly communicating through the signals it gives you.
Not to work against you, but to let you know something needs attention, support, or rest.
This is why treatment isn’t just about one symptom. It’s about understanding the bigger picture of what your body has been carrying.
Which one do you notice in yourself most often?

Ever find yourself wide awake at 3am, staring at the ceiling? You’re not alone, and in Chinese Medicine, this pattern actually has meaning.
The body operates on what we call an organ clock, where different systems are more active at certain times of the day and night. Between 1am and 3am is associated with the Chinese medicine Liver.
This is when the body is working behind the scenes to process, restore, and regulate.
If you’re consistently waking during this window, it can sometimes be a sign that your Chinese medicine Liver system is under a bit of stress or out of balance.
In TCM, the Liver is closely linked to our emotional state, particularly stress, frustration, and feeling mentally or emotionally overwhelmed. When these aren’t processed or resolved, they can start to impact the body in different ways, including sleep.
Of course, there can be many reasons for disrupted sleep, but patterns like this are something we pay attention to.
It’s less about something being wrong, and more about your body trying to send a signal that it needs a bit of support.
If this is something you’ve been experiencing, you’re always welcome to reach out or have a chat about how acupuncture may be able to help

Curious about Chinese Medicine and acupuncture?
This video gives you a little peek into how ear seeding works, which is a micro system of Chinese Medicine ✹
Ear seeding is a gentle technique used in Chinese Medicine where tiny seeds are placed on specific points of the ear to support the body. These points relate to different systems, helping with things like stress, sleep, digestion, and overall balance.
The best part? It’s completely non-invasive and you can gently press on the seeds throughout the day for ongoing support.
I’ll be offering free ear seeding this Sunday at the Long Bay Village Market (26th May), so if you’ve been curious to try it, this is the perfect chance to experience it for yourself.
Come down, have a chat, and learn a little more about acupuncture and Chinese Medicine 🌿
Would love to see you there!

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Spleen and Stomach are considered the centre of the body. Think of them as the foundation everything else is built on.
One of their main roles is transforming the food we eat into Qi, our body’s energy source. This energy is what supports everything, from physical strength and immunity to mental clarity and emotional balance.
So when digestion isn’t functioning optimally, it’s not just about bloating or discomfort. It can start to show up in other ways like low energy, poor sleep, brain fog, or getting sick more often.
Over time, many patterns in the body trace back to how well we’re digesting and absorbing what we consume.
This is also something very personal to me. I struggled with my own digestive health for many years, and it was through Chinese Medicine that I started to understand my body in a new way and gradually bring things back into balance.
It’s a big part of why I care so much about supporting digestion in clinic.
If this resonates with you, or you’ve been dealing with ongoing digestive issues, you’re always welcome to reach out or ask a question below.

This is one of the most common questions I get, and the short answer is no, not at all.
While acupuncture is well known for helping with aches and pains, it’s actually a holistic form of medicine. That means we don’t just focus on one isolated symptom, we look at how your whole body is functioning together.
You might come in for pain, but we’ll also consider things like your sleep, digestion, stress levels, energy, and overall wellbeing.
Because when the body is out of balance, it doesn’t just show up in one way. It can appear as pain, fatigue, poor sleep, frequent colds, hormonal changes, or feeling a bit off without knowing why.
Acupuncture works by supporting the body back toward balance, so it can function the way it’s meant to.
So yes, we treat pain‹But we also support so much more than that.

Got an ACC injury but didn’t realise acupuncture was included?
Acupuncture can support injury recovery by reducing pain, swelling and muscle tension while improving circulation to the injured area.
It also works really well alongside treatments like physio, chiropractic, or osteopathy.
If you’ve got an ACC claim and recovery is taking longer than expected, acupuncture may be a helpful addition to your treatment plan
