Friday the 10th was our last official day for the year and it was a fantastic one. A big thanks goes out to the Rotary Club of Cambridge Inc - NZ for being our volunteers, so our team could take the day off and enjoy themselves.

Thanks as well to Raliegh Street for the amazing space, Jo Davies Colley from Council, our Community Funders, and Service personnel who turned up to help us celebrate our members.

Our small community of volunteers has donated over 4,000 hours this year to keep Interlocknz going and to offer opportunities for connection and growth. Together with our amazing Trustees, we have for five years been amazed at the love of Waipa and are thankful for all your support.

Not all our members and volunteers could be there on the day, but check out the smiles on those that could.

Photos taken by and used with permission from our local celebrity and community recorder, Michael Jeans.

At the Bunnings south family Christmas day. Doing our thing.
Not much sold but we were able to bless lots of children with free sparkly decorations that made their faces shine.

Today, 3 December, is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

To honour IDPWD last year, our counsellor Asoka shared her remarkable family story in an interview with Radio Rhema. She spoke about her journey - from her time as a scientist in Sri Lanka, to her current life in New Zealand as a devoted mother of two adult sons with autism. She also talked about her decision to retrain as a counsellor (and an amazing one at that!).

After the interview aired, Asoka received an encouraging message from a listener:

“I just wanted to tell Asoka what an inspiration her interview is to me. I am a parent of a 16yr old with various disabilities and I’m part way through studying to be a counsellor. Until today I was unsure of what placement to seek out, but realised Asoka has my dream job! You’ve given me a direction and I’m hugely grateful."

Asoka's story reflects the power of family support in shaping meaningful futures. It also reminds us why we’re here: to help disabled whānau pursue their passions and live their best lives.

Afternoon team.

The Trustees have secured us a dry accessible storage unit here in Cambridge from the 8th of December.

If you have time tomorrow morning we will meet at the storage container in at the racing grounds to start the process of deciding what stays and what goes as well as putting our heads together for future options from our array of resources.

Coffee on us.

And we are live.
