There’s never a dull moment in our Care Centre—especially when it comes to keeping everyone moving (and laughing!) 😄

From gentle but competitive table tennis rallies 🏓 to our ever-popular “In It To Win It” games—cleverly tailored for all abilities—there’s plenty of action to go around. It’s less about winning and more about having a go… although we do have a few very determined competitors in the mix!

A little movement, a lot of laughter, and just the right amount of friendly rivalry—now that’s our kind of workout 💪

Our budding pastry chefs have been hard at work - and let’s just say, things got egg-stra delicious 🐣🍫

Flaky pastry nests, generously filled (and then re-filled) with chocolate spread, all carefully crafted to cradle their Easter “eggs” front and centre. Presentation: 10/10. Restraint: questionable 😄

Calories? We’re choosing not to count—only smiles, and there were plenty of those!

🎹✨ Roll up, roll up… the Boogie Circus is coming to town! 🎪

Te Awa Lifecare is thrilled to hosJan Preston's Boogie Circus this Sunday as part of the Cambridge Autumn Festival — and what a show it promises to be!

Known as Australasia’s Queen of Boogie Piano, Jan Preston will light up the stage alongside her husband and swinging percussionist, Mike Pullman. Celebrating 50 years of music with her latest release Pianoland, Jan brings not just incredible piano playing, but stories from a life well lived — from Manhattan dives to European concert halls, and everything in between.

Expect toe-tapping tunes, colourful tales, and plenty of personality 🎶

🦋 A little flutter of creativity at Te Awa… 🦋

Our care residents have been busy crafting beautiful butterfly windmills -each one carefully created and ready to take pride of place in their windows. With the gentlest breeze, these colourful butterflies will spin and dance, bringing a little extra joy to every day.

A lovely way to spend an afternoon - good company, a bit of creativity, and plenty of smiles along the way.

And here’s a fun little fact: butterflies taste with their feet! 🦋 Imagine that - landing on a flower and knowing instantly if it’s the perfect spot.

We think our butterflies have found their perfect spot too 💛

🎻🌿 Bluegrass, family, and a whole lot of heart… this Saturday at Te Awa!

We’re delighted to be hosting The Trenwiths Bluegrass Music Concert as part of the Cambridge Autumn Festival 🎶

This special three-generation family band brings together modern and old-time bluegrass, led by Paul — a QSM recipient with 60 years’ experience in the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band. Their music weaves stories of life, love, and years gone by, all wrapped up in a sound that feels like the soundtrack to a classic old movie.

🍀 A St Patrick’s Day to remember… 🍀

Our ladies decided, with smiles wide and bright,
To raid their wardrobes — what a wonderful sight!
Out came the green, in every shade,
Dresses and hats so proudly displayed.

Scarves and leis with a flourish and flair,
Necklaces shining, and headwear to spare,
A splash here, a sparkle there,
Enough festive fashion for all to share!

And oh, the grins — from ear to ear,
The kind that say, “We’re having fun here!”
A little bit of mischief, a whole lot of cheer,
Making St Patrick’s Day extra special this year.

So here’s to green and a good-hearted crew,
Who know how to celebrate (and look fabulous too!) 💚

🎷🎺 Get ready, Cambridge… we’re turning up the soul this Friday night! 🎶

Te Awa Lifecare is proud to host the Hamilton Big Band (NZ) Fabulous Rhythm & Blues R***e as part of the Cambridge Autumn Festival — and what a night it’s going to be!

They might not be on a mission from God (or being chased by the cops 🚓💨), but these 17-or-so talented musicians are bringing the iconic sounds of The Blues Brothers to life. From Soul Man to Shake a Tail Feather, expect big brass, bold vocals, and a whole lot of energy.

Some of our wonderful residents recently took a trip to the Te Awamutu Space Centre in Kihikihi – and what a stellar day it was! 🌌

From exploring fascinating space exhibits to learning more about the universe around us, there was plenty to spark curiosity and conversation. The Space Centre offers an engaging, hands-on experience that brings science and discovery to life in a fun and accessible way.

There were smiles all around as everyone took in the interactive displays and shared in the excitement of all things space – proving you’re never too old to keep learning and exploring! 💫
