Last month we proudly opened RD4, the newest wing at Te Awa Lifecare! 🎉

Our oldest resident, 100-year-old Jerry Wake, with the help of owner Mandy Hudson, had the honour of cutting the ribbon.

RD4 isn’t just a building — it’s about continuing our vision of exceptional, compassionate care. With four special rooms for couples, loved ones can remain together.

Staff joined the celebrations as we welcomed our very first new resident — a wonderful new chapter begins!

Our residents are keeping spirits high with a morning of board games — laughter, strategy, and maybe a little friendly rivalry.

👶🕵️‍♀️ Who’s That Baby? 🕵️‍♂️👶

The guessing is done, the laughs were plenty, and some of those baby faces really had us stumped! Our Te Awa Lifecare Baby Photo Competition has wrapped up, and residents had a great time trying to match the adorable baby pics to familiar faces. 💭📷

Some guesses were spot on… others, not so much! 😄
Winners will be revealed, so stay tuned to see who nailed the guessing game — and which baby face surprised us all the most! 👀✨

🌞✨ Even on the chilliest days, the Te Awa glasshouse is pure magic. Sunlight streams in, windows misted with condensation, and the whole place glows like a cosy lantern. Proof that winter days can still shine bright — sometimes you just need the right glasshouse view. 💛

🔨🪵 Things are getting chopping in the Hobby Room! Our talented crew has been busy whipping up beautiful chopping boards — each one a slice above the rest. From cheese platters to veg prep, these boards are proof that creativity is alive and well at Te Awa. Who knew retirement came with so much board meeting fun? 😉

Over in the warmth of the Care Centre, our crew’s been keeping fit and toasty with a seated exercise session led by Tanya 💪🪑❄️

Laughter, movement, and a few cheeky stretches made for a great way to beat the chill. Who says you need to be on your feet to stay active? It's all about keeping the body moving and the spirits high!

🎹 We’re sad to share that Jan Preston, has been struck down with the winter ills and won’t be able to perform at Te Awa in August. The good news is she’ll be back early next year – and we know she’ll return with even more sparkle in her step and rhythm in her fingers. 💃

Wishing Jan a speedy recovery! For those who already purchased tickets, refunds will be issued.

🤠 The Woolshed is turning wild(ish) tonight as we get ready for the big Cowboy Shindig! Preparations are underway – boots are being dusted off (some haven’t seen daylight since line dancing in 2003), hats are being reshaped, and someone’s polishing their belt buckle like it’s the Wild West Finals. 🪣👢

We might not have hay bales or a rodeo, but we do have good food, great company, and a playlist that’ll have you yeehaw-ing before dessert.

Saddle up, residents – it’s going to be a rootin’-tootin’ good time!

Another glorious day at Te Awa! ❄️🌞
This morning’s crisp frost didn’t stand a chance — it’s melted away to reveal a stunning blue-sky day.
The daffodils are adding cheerful pops of yellow in the vegetable gardens, the hearty winter veg are thriving despite the chill, and even the leaf piles are quietly getting on with the job of breaking down - nature doing it's thing!
A perfect day to be out and about in the village.🥶🌤️

We woke to a another crisp frost this morning, but it didn’t hang around for long — the sun’s been working its magic and now we’re basking in blue skies and winter warmth. Perfect weather for a stroll, a chat in the sun, or a spot of gardening. Loving these stunning winter days!
