✨LOWER BACK PAIN✨

Everyone suffers from lower back pain at some point of their lives. If the body has not been able to deal with the original site of irritation, then this lower back pain is likely to be constant or recur at regular intervals. It is stated that more work days are lost due to lower back pain than any other reason.

As the lower back muscles tighten over time, lower back pain may not be the only effect. Frequently the nerves that exit the lower back could get irritated, contributing to effects like sciatica, groin pain, heartburn, bladder infections, painful menstruation, etc.

The lower back pain is unlikely to settle until the origin of the problem is addressed, and this involves the easing of the protective muscle action around the lumbar spine with the help of a Body Stress Release practitioner.

Our : Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine.
BSR does not attempt to straighten abnormal curves in the spine, however the whole spine is tested for stored tension, whether above, below or within the deviation. It is then up to the body to use the improved nerve communication and muscle tone to resort normal posture.
9-year old *Clara suffered from Scoliosis. She had BSR over a period of ten weeks and the ‘S’ bend reduced, her neck pain ceased, the ridge of muscle which had developed on one side in her lower back flattened, and the right shoulder blade became level with the left one. She is now much happier and no longer feels self-conscious in summer clothes.

✨ADHD awareness month ✨

People with ADHD often experience physical tension, anxiety, and stress, which can exacerbate their symptoms. BSR can help release deep-seated tension in the muscles, promoting relaxation and reducing stress levels. This, in turn, may lead to improvements in focus, concentration, and overall well-being.

Some potential benefits of BSR for individuals with ADHD include:

1. Reduced stress and anxiety: By releasing physical tension, BSR can help calm the nervous system, which may lead to a decrease in anxiety and stress levels.

2. Improved sleep: Many individuals with ADHD experience sleep difficulties. BSR can help promote relaxation, which may improve sleep quality.

3. Enhanced focus and concentration: By reducing physical tension and promoting relaxation, BSR may help individuals with ADHD stay focused and concentrated for longer periods.

4. Increased self-awareness: BSR can help individuals develop greater body awareness, which may enable them to better recognize and manage their physical and emotional responses to stress.

It's essential to note that BSR should not be used as a replacement for medical treatment or therapy. Instead, it can be a complementary approach to support overall well-being and help manage ADHD symptoms.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF OUR LOGO:
The BSR logo depicts a white leafy tree on a dark green background. Below it, the dark green root system is a symmetrical pattern of loops on a white background. The arcing lines represent the unseen pathways of communication in the body - the coherent flow of life energy. The roots may also symbolise body stress, hidden ‘underground’, and demonstrate that although stress is an undermining force, it is stored in an organised form (there is order and intelligence, even in apparent chaos). When the stress is released, the life energy is restored, represented by the flourishing tree.

My BSR story:

I was first introduced to BSR when I was about 8 years old. My mother suffered from frequent unbearable migraines. She discovered BSR and after three sessions her migraines went away. When I was in high school my grandparents went for BSR as well. I remember my grandfather walking into the session bent over and in an insane amount of pain. He walked out standing straighter and smiling with his pain drastically decreased. At a young age I was amazed at how BSR helped my family.

Fast forward a couple of years, I’m stuck in an admin job feeling trapped and wondering how I can change my life around and get back to fulfilling my passion of helping people. I rediscovered BSR, read up on it, read all the case studies, the history of BSR and what it is, I was hooked. I booked my sessions and applied to study almost straight away.

I had a couple of concerns, restless legs, tinnitus, spasms in my neck, pins and needles in my arms, not the mention my various injuries from my 4 scooter accidents. EVERY discomfort I had went away with BSR, I was pain free.

While studying BSR I was reminded why I fell in love with it, that we work with the body, not against it and we believe the body heals itself. I also learned that pain is not normal and that we don’t have to settle for it. We can be pain free, our bodies can heal, it just needs the nudge in the right direction, and that is what BSR does.

As I mentioned before, my passion is to help people, which is why I started my career as a BSR Practitioner by doing a two week outreach at a Special Needs School in Mthatha.

My husband and I moved to New Zealand in 2023 and to Cambridge early this year. We have fallen in love with the town cannot wait to grow our family and become part of the community.

Our is about a young boy's struggle with Cerebral Palsy and how BSR helped improve his standard of living.
*Darren has athetosis, a slow, continuous, involuntary writhing movement that prevents maintenance of a stable posture. He was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at age 3, which is also when he was first brought to BSR. He couldn't lift his head when lying on his back, his knees were constantly touching, his feet splayed, and he could not unclench his hands.
After one session, he started rolling over onto his stomach and leopard-crawling. He also started making sounds, but he still struggled with seizures. Slowly, with regular BSR, the seizures became less and the understandable words more. His hands unclenched, and he started being able to hold things, but still suffered from seizures. After two years, he had almost no seizures and could talk quite well, as well as use his arms and legs.

UNDERSTANDING CUMMULATIVE STRESS, ACUTE STRESS AND CHRONIC STRESS:
This awesome article by ChoosingTherapy underlines the difference between these three types of stress that we as BSR practitioners deal with daily: https://www.choosingtherapy.com/cumulative-stress/
It is important to remember that Body Stress Release can assist with all three.

Cumulative stress refers to the compounding impact of recurrent stressors. The effects of cumulative stress tend to be multifaceted, and they can include physical and emotional symptoms. This type of stress may also exacerbate preexisting health conditions and place excess strain on one’s relation...
