My BSR story:

I was first introduced to BSR when I was about 8 years old. My mother suffered from frequent unbearable migraines. She discovered BSR and after three sessions her migraines went away. When I was in high school my grandparents went for BSR as well. I remember my grandfather walking into the session bent over and in an insane amount of pain. He walked out standing straighter and smiling with his pain drastically decreased. At a young age I was amazed at how BSR helped my family.

Fast forward a couple of years, I’m stuck in an admin job feeling trapped and wondering how I can change my life around and get back to fulfilling my passion of helping people. I rediscovered BSR, read up on it, read all the case studies, the history of BSR and what it is, I was hooked. I booked my sessions and applied to study almost straight away.

I had a couple of concerns, restless legs, tinnitus, spasms in my neck, pins and needles in my arms, not the mention my various injuries from my 4 scooter accidents. EVERY discomfort I had went away with BSR, I was pain free.

While studying BSR I was reminded why I fell in love with it, that we work with the body, not against it and we believe the body heals itself. I also learned that pain is not normal and that we don’t have to settle for it. We can be pain free, our bodies can heal, it just needs the nudge in the right direction, and that is what BSR does.

As I mentioned before, my passion is to help people, which is why I started my career as a BSR Practitioner by doing a two week outreach at a Special Needs School in Mthatha.

My husband and I moved to New Zealand in 2023 and to Cambridge early this year. We have fallen in love with the town cannot wait to grow our family and become part of the community.

Body Stress Release was established by Ewald and Gail Meggersee, two young and up-and-coming Chiropractors. Ewald himself had fallen out of a tree at age five which had left him unconscious for a week and with a myriad of debilitating side effects when he woke up; such as: constant burning in his spine, constantly tingling legs, feeling like he constantly needed to urinate and numb fingers. Doctors could not find anything wrong and wrote it off to the imagination of a child.

He struggled painfully through life and was still fighting these daily symptoms when he met Gail in university. They fell in love and married but Ewald’s symptoms were only getting worse. Seeing a Chiropractor was suggested and he jumped at the opportunity.

Chiro was the first relief he had experienced since he was 5 although pain would return after a few hours but it prompted them both to move to the USA to study Chiropractic as it was not offered in SA yet at that time. During this time they realized that while Chiropractic helped ease Ewald’s symptoms, it did not take them away completely and they began to explore new and different techniques. They then met Dr van Rumpt at a seminar and his knowledge and ideas changed their lives.

They returned to SA with their Chiropractic degrees and the will to incorporate Dr van Rumpt’s teachings into their studied technique. Over the years they did this, perfecting what is now the BSR technique. The technique itself has had such resounding success amongst its clients that it has grown into a flourishing association with two academies worldwide and a growing practitioner network that spans the globe.

✨ Pain ✨

When there is an overload of stress on your body, whether it be physical, chemical or emotional, your muscles respond by going into a self-protecting & armouring mode.

This protective reaction can cause pressure to be put on the nerves which disturbs the body's internal communication system and thereby reduces the efficiency of your body's natural self-healing ability.

Body Stress Release assists the body in releasing that stored tension enabling the muscles to relax.

As a result communication between the brain and nerves can be improved which can better enable the body's self-healing ability.

Clients have reported relief from back pain, hip pain, neck pain, joint pain, sciatica, headaches, migraines, frozen shoulders, IBS, neuralgia, anxiety, indigestion, restricted movement and more.

Our this week is about *Patrick is a retired Geologist born in Detmold, Germany in 1937. He was first brought by his son for BSR in Aug 2011 after surviving a second stroke.
At the time he was undergoing speech therapy as he could not speak, and seeing a physiotherapist on a regular basis. He had lost full feeling in his left foot, he also struggled with his speech, and with on-going left sciatic pain due to an undiagnosed condition many years ago, which brought about raging fevers when he worked at Lake Tanganyika in Africa. He shared how he had to spend many months in hospital undergoing investigative procedures as a result.
Through the years he has not only survived bladder cancer, but also experienced a third stroke. Over time, with regular BSR sessions and coming to terms with his limitations in reading and driving, his initial garbled communications via WhatsApp with his practitioner became clearer, and his speech improved. When he was unable to have his usual BSR sessions due to isolation during the COVID pandemic, he become frailer and battled to walk.
He and his practitioner have built a rapport over the years, and with his immense knowledge on a variety of diverse topics, their regular interactions afford him much needed mental stimulation. With her gentle prompting when he cannot find the appropriate words, which he finds very frustrating, she is patient in waiting for him to search for an alternative word.
We are pleased to report that with a regular BSR maintenance routine in place again, he continues to look forward to, and enjoy, his sessions. When his practitioner asked him how he feels BSR has benefitted him, his response was: ‘I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for BSR! I wouldn’t be able to walk! It assists me with pain relief, and I’m glad it helps to preserve some memory, which would be lost otherwise.’

Body Stress Release (BSR) is a gentle, non-invasive technique that aims to release tension stored in the body. Considering the winter season, here are 6 reasons why BSR could add value:

1. Improved immune function: Winter is a time when our immune systems can be more vulnerable to illness. By releasing physical tension, BSR can help boost the immune system, making it easier to fight off winter bugs.

2. Relief from cold-related aches and pains: Cold weather can exacerbate existing aches and pains, such as arthritis or fibromyalgia. BSR can help release tension in the muscles and joints, providing relief from winter-related discomfort.

3. Enhanced circulation and warmth: As BSR releases tension, it can also improve blood flow and circulation. This can help keep the body warm and cozy during the cold winter months, reducing the risk of cold-related illnesses like Raynaud's disease.

4. Reduced stress and anxiety: Winter can be a stressful and overwhelming time, especially with the pressure to stay indoors and manage seasonal affective disorder (SAD). BSR can help calm the nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety and promoting a sense of well-being.

5. Preparation for outdoor winter activities: If you enjoy outdoor winter activities like hiking or cycling, BSR can help prepare your body for the demands of these sports. By releasing tension and improving flexibility, you can perform at your best and reduce the risk of injury.

6. You don’t have to remove your clothes for a session!

These are just a few reasons why Body Stress Release could add value during the winter season.

Did you know that Body Stress Release has been known to help people that have suffered the trauma of brain damage or paralysis?
The case study of a young 19 year old girl who was involved in a head on collision that left her brain damaged and paralysed refers:
The accident left *Theresa with no control over her arms, legs or speech. Her body was permanently twisted to one side which caused her to slump over whenever in a seated position and she had no more control over her bladder and her colon needed to be cleaned out manually. With standard methods of therapy over 3 years there had only been the ability to start uttering a few sounds that her mother could kind of understand.
After being introduced to BSR and undergoing a session a month on and off for 4 years the improvements were as follows: 1. Neck muscles relaxed and she could raise her head off her chest 2. The curved lumbar spine recovered its normal shape 3. Some sensation returned to her legs, abdomen and spine. 4. Her left leg can now bend and the foot is no longer locked behind her other leg 5. She gradually was able to stand while supported and take a few steps 6. Her sounds became clearer, speech improved and she can now speak a few words 7. She could push herself upright and hold on to objects 8. She began menstruation again 9. She regained awareness of her bladder and her bowel started functioning on its own.

When tying your shoes, it’s best to maintain good posture to avoid strain or injury to your back. This involves sitting with good back support and avoiding excessive bending or twisting.
Sit with your back straight and supported. This helps maintain good posture and limits the amount of bending required.
Place the shoe on a flat surface, or even on a chair, to make it easier to reach the laces and eliminate back strain.

“… no more back or neck pains, no migraines nothing. I highly recommend BSR to everyone. You won't be disappointed that's for sure”

Shereece struggled with neck pain, back pain and migraines for years. She went to chiropractors and physiotherapists, but the pain continued. She felt relief after just one BSR session and her body continued to heal until she was completely PAIN FREE!

I love seeing clients heal and regain hope after years of pain.

Body Stress Release is a health profession concerned with unlocking the tensions stored in physical structures, thereby assisting the body in restoring its maximum efficiency.

This gentle technique assists the body in its own healing process and brings effective relief from many forms of tension, pain and discomfort caused by the build-up of stress in the body.

When the stresses of life – whether mechanical, chemical or mental/emotional – reach the level of overload, the body is no longer able to adapt constructively. The stress becomes locked into the physical structures, causing pain, stiffness, numbness, headaches or postural distortions. This stored tension has an impact on the nervous system and undermines the body’s natural ability to co-ordinate its functions and heal and maintain itself.

Body Stress Release brings effective relief from pain and discomfort from many different causes, including back pain, various types of stress and even sporting injuries.

Body Stress Release does not use medication or machines, nor does it involve massage, manipulation, pressure points or energy meridians. It is practical and logical. Body Stress Release uses information provided by the body to determine where stored tension may be undermining the efficiency of the nervous system, disturbing the body’s ability to co-ordinate its functions and perform at its full potential. Once the area and direction of tension is determined, it is released with a gentle but precise impulse, this impulse opens up the lines of communication between body and brain and allows the body to heal.
