🌡️ Feeling Sick? The Flu is going around! 🤧
Here’s what you need to know about influenza (the flu) and how to take care of yourself and your loved ones:

🦠 What is Influenza?
Influenza is a highly contagious viral infection that affects the nose, throat, and lungs. It spreads easily through coughs, sneezes, or touching contaminated surfaces. Many people are having symptoms for 8-9 days!

💥 Common Symptoms:

Sudden high fever

Chills and body aches

Cough

Sore throat

Headache

Fatigue and weakness

Sometimes nausea or vomiting (especially in children)

🩺 When to See a Doctor:
Contact your GP or visit urgent care if you or your child:

Have difficulty breathing

Experience chest pain

Can’t keep fluids down

Are very drowsy or confused

💉 Prevention is Key:

Get your flu vaccine every year—it’s safe and effective

Wash your hands often

Stay home when sick to avoid spreading the virus

Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze

🛌 How to Treat the Flu:

Rest and stay hydrated

Use over-the-counter meds like paracetamol for fever and aches

Antiviral medications (Tamiflu) may help if taken within the first 48 hours—ask your pharmacist.

Rapid Flu test are available at your local pharmacy 💙

As winter approaches we are seeing an increased number of respiratory illnesses. Here is some information when deciding if you need to make an appointment for your cough or cold.
-90% of chest and sinus infections are caused by viruses.
-Antibiotics are not useful against viruses.
-Mucous usually starts clear then changes yellow or green-this change does not mean that is caused by a bacteria
-Symptoms usually last 5-10 days but sometime up to 2 weeks
-If you have shortness of breath, fever lasting more than 5 days, chest pain, severe throat pain, drowsiness, trouble breathing you should should get a medical evaluation
