The tilt panels have gone up fast, and the ground floor of the new apartment building has sprung to life ✨🏘️

Livingstone Building NZ and subbies have been making great progress, and it’s inspiring to see the site buzzing with activity. Watching the cranes and ground crew carefully lift and guide these tilt panels and steel into place was impressive. 🏗️⭐

Sandra's Monarch Magic 🦋✨

Village resident Sandra has truly outdone herself this year with her incredible dedication, love, and care for monarch butterflies. Not only has she nurtured her own caterpillars, but she’s also taken in more than 140 additional caterpillars from the Cambridge community! 🌿⭐

To protect the young ones from wasps, Sandra covers them with frost cloth - and many have even chosen her home (and her neighbour’s) as the perfect spot to form their chrysalises. Some are kept safely in her garage too, away from a curious little Miss Elle the cat, who finds them just a bit too interesting!

🧡 What an amazing achievement once again, Sandra - your passion and care ensure these beautiful monarchs continue to thrive year after year. 🌿🦋

Resthaven Roll Up!

What a fantastic afternoon on the bowling green.

This has become an annual event, organised by Jeff, our wonderful Independent Living Manager. There was lots of laughter and everyone enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere - from the first-timers having a go alongside our seasoned pros. Plus our spectators enjoyed a refreshing change of scenery.

A big thank you to the Cambridge Central Bowling Club for hosting us and for all their support — what a great day it was!

Our Village Tomato Competition was a hit!

And many contestants have enjoyed the fruits of their labour with delicious vine-ripened tomatoes.

The plants were Yates ‘Patio Mini’. 60 seeds were sown in October last year, 58 germinated, and the seedlings raised and nurtured until early December.

20 contestants vied for the top spot! After months of care (and one brave tomato even going on holiday to Orewa!) judging took place on 31st January. Jeff our Independent Living Manager, had the tough job of picking the winners — it was close, with only 4 points separating the top three! Congrats to the winners...

Music, good company and a great day out 🎺

A group of village residents headed to Morrinsville last weekend for a concert by the talented Band of the Royal Regiment of New Zealand Artillery.

Huge thanks to Doug and Bill for organising the trip — a great time was had by all.

There’s been a lot happening on-site in the last few weeks here at Vogel Street! 🌞⭐️
The foundations have been poured for the new apartment building.
So there's been some especially busy mornings for the construction team ⏰, approx. 170m3 of concrete, and a lot of concrete trucks. Things are definitely taking shape!

Chocolate Cake Day (yes, it’s a real thing) gave us the best excuse to do more baking with residents. We made chocolate cake and cupcakes - mission happily accomplished!

Sunflowers and Strawberries! 🌻🍓
We’ve been making the most of the weather lately and getting out and about exploring the area 🚐
We took a drive out to The Taupiri Sunflower Farm - fields and fields of glorious bright yellow blooms 🌻
And we went for a sweet morning at the Ruakura Berry Shop strawberry farm with ice cream and fresh strawberries… the perfect way to start the day! 🍓🍦
