Friday evenings are about connecting with our local farming community, and creating some banter while moving around on two wheels amoungst the trees before finishing up with a bite to eat and drink.

Do you do this?

Find session inspiration from workout pieces you’ve seen online then tweak it to fit your own needs?

I program my own training and sometimes that means creating it as I go, this is something I enjoy doing as it allows me to tailor the sessions to my needs that day/week/month. Needs mostly come under two categories: time and energy levels.

On days like today when motivation is high and inspiration is easy to find all that’s left is to check is :: are you meeting yourself where you’re at? when outlining your session.

I like to think about
- What’s my overall goal
(big picture)
- What am I trying to achieve from this session (puzzle pieces)
- What is my body and my mind wanting to take away from today.

At this point in my athletic life my big picture is to improve my strength and endurance so I can have more fun riding my bike.

Today my need was to get a sweat up and focus on breathing because my minds been busy.

I jumped online and scanned through - it felt like a WOD day today , I wanted to keep it simple so my mind could focus on the effort not the intricacies ::

A Couplet (2 movements chosen and repeated at high intensity)

I found a workout that inspired me,
10 rounds
10 DB thrusters (Front squat with an overhead press) & 100m sprinting.

Sprinting (running fast💨) is not something I’ve been doing lately nor have been training so that was off the table, all I could think was jumping into an explosive movement like sprinting is an easy way to invite injury.

Sprinting didn’t really fit under the umbrella of exercises that would help me to move towards my desired outcome. (Unless it was sprinting on a bike - but I didn’t have the equipment readily available to support that idea)

However I liked the simplicity of the workout and I love DB Thrusters. So what could I substitute for sprinting ?
Rowing-Biking-Bear crawling-Burpee box jump overs

Today I wanted to keep the impact on the joints low - I choose Rowing as I already had that in mind.

100m sprint is over within seconds - I’m looking to change the stimulus of this piece and increase the duration of the workout.

WITH LOVE from one of our Adventurous Mamas !

I was sent this earlier today
and thought it was too good not to share. A play by a play of the internal dialogue as your getting to know frogs one of the primal movements of ZUU.

While moving through the postpartum program on our adventurous mamas app. We have a session called stretch & flow - this is our active rest day which alternates throughout the week along side our main workout. This is all about moving slow and controlled while working on mobility and stability from the core to extremities.

Frogs 🐸 are great body weight exercise that mobilises the lower back, hips, knees and ankles - all while challenging our mental resilience to stay down! stay in it! If you know you know!

So many cool moments coming from this experience..

Seeing progress feeling empowered but wait we’re not done yet! ❤️ 💪🏽

This week we’ve been learning to create time for ourselves so when we start the PP program we already have an idea of how it will fit into our daily!
