The cost is $40.00 and we are offering a walk in service between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, so no appointment necessary.

Our funded flu vaccines will be available from the 1st April.

Media Statement from GenPro regarding ADHD prescribing in General Practice.

GPs urge patience while they gear up for diagnosing and treating ADHD | 27 January 2026

The organisation that represents community doctors is looking forward to changes in February that will allow GPs to diagnose and treat ADHD patients.

But the General Practice Owners’ Association is cautioning that the transition could take time and is urging patience while doctors gear up for the new service.

Last June the Ministry of Health gave the green light to GPs and nurse practitioners to initiate treatment for adults with ADHD, starting February 1 this year. Currently GPs can only prescribe ADHD medicines to patients already being treated by a paediatrician or psychiatrist, meaning long delays for access to treatments such as Ritalin.

GenPro Chair Dr Angus Chambers says GPs are keen to help ADHD patients and reduce wait times, but the transition will require public understanding about what the changes will mean in February.

“There will be no big bang on day one. While welcome, the changes are not going to have an impact as quickly as some patients would like.

Although specialist GPs will, after appropriate training, be able to offer an ADHD service, it’s likely only a small number of GPs will have the training required to diagnose ADHD on February 1.

“Indeed, most GPs will likely never be trained to provide ADHD diagnostic or treatment. They won't have the time, finances, interest, or capacity to proactively take on this extra responsibility and additional workload.

“The assessments will need diagnostic rigour to appropriate standards and will typically take more than an hour over several visits, roughly the same as seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist.

“As well, the GPs doing ADHD assessments will reduce their ‘normal’ general practice work to fit in assessments, so access to GPs for other care could deteriorate.

“Importantly, there is currently no funding allocation to GPs and primary health care to cover GP training and diagnosis of ADHD - it sits outside our current public funding model. So, time spent on ADHD will be unsubsidised and therefore fully patient funded.

12-month Prescriptions

From 1 February 2026, some people with stable, long-term health conditions may be able to get a 12-month prescription.

Not everyone will get a 12-month prescription. Your prescriber will decide what is safe and appropriate for you.

There will still be a maximum of three months’ supply (six months for oral contraceptives) at a time, as there is now.

Patients will continue to only pay one prescription co-payment per prescription item, when they collect their first supply from the pharmacy.

Patients will still need to collect their repeats from the same
pharmacy. Repeats cannot be transferred between pharmacies.

There is no change to the maximum duration of supply for controlled drugs such as morphine, ADHD medicines like methylphenidate, benzodiazepines like temazepam, and zopiclone.

If you feel you might qualify for a 12-month prescription, please book a consultation with your registered GP before your next script is due.

· We appreciate that this is a difficult and unsettling situation, but we believe it is important that individuals who might be affected are provided with accurate and certain information, and only Manage My Health can provide that at this stage

If you have not received an email directly from MMH you can see if your account has been affected:

Open the MMH app – do you have a green banner at the top saying ‘no impact’.

(i) If you do then you’re OK

(ii) If you don’t have a green banner, then they haven’t notified you yet. Please be patient and you will get a notification from MMH.

A few reminders:

Repeat prescriptions need to be ordered before end of day Friday 19th December to allow time for processing. Any scripts ordered after this time might not be processed until Monday 5th January 2026.

We are open every day except the Public Holidays and weekends.

Our after hours clinic will be closed on Wednesday 24th December and re opening Monday 12th January.
