What we resist, persists.
You know when you have a job to do and you ignore it, put it off, put it in the too hard basket and then when you finally do it you feel a massive relief?
It’s the same with our emotions.
If you know you feel angry, sad, worried, anything! but you refuse to acknowledge it.. it festers. It starts feeling bigger, more acute until you either explode, get sick or completely shut down under the pressure.
All emotions are valid and everyone feels different things for different reasons, the best thing you can do for yourself? Acknowledge them.
“I feel so angry right now.”
“I am so upset…” if you can say “… because of…” even better.
This isn’t to solve the problem coz some things we are emotional about can’t be fixed in the moment but just by giving your feeling a voice can reduce the impact it’s having on you mentally, physically and emotionally.
What we resist, persists.
Next time you feel something you’re trying to pretend like is not there.. try this and see how much lighter you feel after.
It won’t fix the problem but it will allow you to be freed from feelings that are completely allowed to be alive inside you 💚
