🏅 We’re proud to be Cornerstone Accredited!

Our practice has recently been awarded Cornerstone Accreditation by the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners — a mark of nationally recognised excellence in general practice.

This reflects our commitment to high-quality, equitable care and ongoing improvement across all areas of our work. 💚

Being an accredited practice also means we’re able to host GP Registrars who are qualified doctors completing their specialist GP training. We love supporting the next generation of GPs and the fresh knowledge and energy they bring.

💊 Have you met Nat yet?

Nat is our amazing Prescribing Pharmacist, working closely with our nurses, GPs and wider team to help optimise medicines and support your overall health.

You might’ve already heard from Nat about your meds, test results, referrals or hospital follow-ups. She’s also been supporting patients with medication reviews, safety checks and tools like continuous glucose monitoring.

Soon, Nat will be able to assess, prescribe, and monitor medications independently. 🙌

📅 Later this year, you’ll be able to book with Nat for:
✅ Long-term condition management (e.g. diabetes, asthma, gout, heart health)
✅ Consults for common issues like UTIs, hayfever, skin concerns, oral contraception, and more

We’re so excited to bring this service to you. Another step towards more accessible, timely care at The Doctors Christchurch South. 💚

✨ Mānawatia a Matariki ✨

Matariki is a special time in Aotearoa – a time to remember those we've lost, celebrate the present with those around us, and look to the future with hope.

As the Matariki stars return to our sky, it's a beautiful opportunity to slow down, reconnect with whānau, and reflect on what matters most.

From all of us at The Doctors, we wish you and your loved ones a peaceful and meaningful Matariki.

Flu vaccines are still available — have you had yours?

🌧️ Seasonal changes can affect your mood — especially with less sunlight, colder days, and more time spent indoors. Feeling a bit low or slow is normal at this time of year. But if it's impacting your daily life, it could be Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) — a type of depression triggered by the seasons.

Small steps can help:
✔️ Get outside in the morning light
✔️ Stay active — even gentle movement helps
✔️ Boost your vitamin D through food or supplements
✔️ Reach out for support

💬 We offer FREE health and wellbeing support for enrolled patients through our Health Improvement team: 🌿 Our Health Improvement Practitioner and Health Coaches can help with mood, sleep, stress, healthy habits, and more. No referral needed, and appointments are often available on the same-day!

Struggling to breathe in the colder weather? 💨You’re not alone.

1 in 6 Kiwis live with a respiratory condition, and autumn and winter can make symptoms worse. Cold, damp air and more time indoors can trigger flare-ups — especially for asthma, COPD and bronchitis.

Breathe easier this winter:
✔️ Keep up with flu & Covid vaccines
✔️ Use your medications regularly
✔️ Keep your home warm, dry & ventilated
✔️ Stay active — even short walks help
✔️ Quit smoking, if you smoke
✔️ Chat to your GP or nurse about an action plan

If your breathing feels different or you’re worried, book an appointment with your GP or nurse.
