We are a Speech, Language and Communication Practice based in Christchurch offering 3 different services: - Speech and Language Therapy for children and teenagers (0 – 18 years) - Parent and Baby interaction workshops - English language tutoring for adults

Leaping Language NZ offers a high quality, friendly and supportive service. Everything we offer can be tailored to suit our client's individual strengths and needs.

Leaping Language NZ is managed by Nadine Prescott, Speech and Language Therapist. Nadine works in all 3 areas of our practice. We are also very lucky to have Kyra Portis as part of our parent and baby workshops. Please see below for extra information about Nadine and Kyra.

Nadine Prescott:

Qualified with a Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy from Canterbury University in 2002.

17 years experience in working with children and teenagers with a range of speech, language and communication needs.

Spent a total of 10 years working for the Ministry of Education in family homes, preschools, kindergartens and schools. Working across all age groups 1 – 21 years.

Worked in the UK for 7 years for the National Health Service (NHS) in mainstream schools, special schools and specialist resource bases. Specialised during this time in working with teenagers in High School settings.

A friendly and reliable Speech and Language Therapist with strong ability to relate to children of all age groups, from preschoolers to young adults.

Spoken at conferences and published two books jointly with a specialist teacher.

Member of the New Zealand Speech Therapy Association (NZSTA) and work according to their code of ethics.

Partner to Warren and Mum to Lexie (2 1/2 years old).

Kyra Portis (Parent and Baby Workshop Facilitator):

Qualified with a Bachelor of Speech and Language Pathology from Canterbury University in 2014.

· 5 years of experience in working with children, families and educators in home, school and early childhood settings to support children with a variety of speech, language and social communication needs.

· Experience in presenting and facilitating parent and teacher workshops for a range of speech and language topics.

· Certified member of Hanen with experience in facilitating Hanen parent training workshops (The Hanen Centre).

· Registered member of the New Zealand Speech Therapy Association (NZSTA) and work according to their code of ethics.

· Loves to draw, play table tennis and has recently become a marriage celebrant in Canterbury.

· Wife to Ethan and mum to Ashton (5 months).
