We loved having Caroline visit us last week - all the way from New Plymouth. She'd been searching for a team who could bring her vision to life and chose Vehicle Adaptions. She really appreciated that we took the time to really listen and find practical solutions that worked for her.

With a little help from our sister company Freedom Mobility, her van was brought down to Christchurch on one of their runs, ready for her visit to check on the progress - and see how "The Beast" (yes it already has a nickname) is coming together.

One of our clients and her OT came to us with a safety concern - postural issues meant she was leaning toward the driver while on the road.

Our team created a simple but effective fix: a custom-built headrest and armrest. The result? A safe, comfortable, and confident ride.

Love seeing the vehicles we work on doing great things. We modified this one for Freedom Mobility's Rental fleet, and this weekend it’s up at Cardona on mountain duty for the Adaptive Snow Festival with Margaret.

Double the vans, double the access - with a few extra upgrades! We've just finished the second Christchurch City Council Library van featuring the same lightweight, easy-to-use steps - now with grippier stair treads and an extra handrail at the top for added support. We're be adding these new features to the first van too. These mobile libraries do amazing work around the city, and we're proud to make them easier for everyone to use.

We saw a post recently from someone struggling with pins and needles in their arm while using their current steering wheel spinner. And they aren't alone - what works first might not always work forever. There are lots of different styles of steering wheel spinners- different shapes and different materials. If you are finding your current setup uncomfortable, come and have a chat to us at Vehicle Adaptions. We can take a look and see if there's another option that might suit you better.

Our team is about to get stuck into converting these VW Crafters for Freedom Mobility – turning them into fully wheelchair accessible vehicles ready to join one of the best rental fleets of mobility vehicles in NZ. When it comes to accessible vans, no one size fits all. That’s why our team works hard to match each person with a van that fits their lifestyle. Sometimes it involves a few swaps to get it right but it’s worth it when we get feedback like this: ‘I cried when you swapped me out of the Nissan, the Mercedes is so much better to travel in and I am really impressed with how quickly things happened.’ The process isn’t always fast but it’s always personal.
