Valentine's Day is coming up ... got any plans? Roses🌹 ... chocolates 🍫...romcom 💘 ... 100 MILE run? 🏃‍♂️
What was that last one?! 😮 Yep ... most of us are thinking hearts and flowers while Arron (past NZSTer and instrumental in setting up Voc Rehab) is planning to run 100 miles (...miles - not kilometres) to raise money for us 🥰 Now THAT is an over-the-top gesture! Seems like once NZST gets under your skin, we're there for life 😉😍💙💛

On February 14th 2026, we're running the Tarawera 100 - a 100 MILE ultra-marathon. Are we crazy? Maybe ... This is the biggest run we've ever done ... and

Want to take a moment to share this fundraiser with you ... Steve went through the Burwood Spinal Unit back in 2022. He's what our Andrew calls a 'nearly wheelie' - lucky enough to have enough function in his spinal cord that he can walk, and outwardly looks completely recovered: unlucky enough to have enough function in his spinal cord that he can walk and outwardly looks completely recovered ... but in reality is still dealing with a lot of hidden issues. He keeps in contact with our 'walkers' zoom peer support meetings and has this to say about them "I really appreciate the walking SCI Zoom gatherings that NZST initiated … it’s like putting on a thick comfortable cardigan, in that informally we can sit in the comfort of our own home and talk with like minded souls about the challenges and solutions that we face on a daily basis.
While everyone is unique, we are usually sharing the same frustrations and any ideas we can get to lessen our day-to-day battles are gratefully received."
Anyhoo ... Steve's riding his bike across the North Island (yep, coast to coast across) 🚵‍🚵‍♂️ starting this weekend. And he's raising money for NZ Spinal Trust 💙💛 We'd love you to check out his page and share it, follow his Facebook, show him some support and encouragement ... GO STEVE!! 🥳

Wow! What a day wrapping with the A-Team (Abby and Aimee 😉) ... and prize for the most out-there gift to wrap goes to this caravan jockey wheel! 😜Luckily Su didn't get that to wrap or she'd have still been there covered in tape and paper bits 🤣 HUGE thank you to all the awesome volunteers ... enjoy a well-deserved break 🤩
