Tune in and listen to the horse.
Take time to understand and have a conversation.
Listen to them, sometime this takes a little longer but it's worth it in the long run.
Build a foundation of trust and that connection can help the horse in so many more ways than a single treatment šŸ¤— especially with the youngsters.

Is you horse better on one circle, or finding it difficult to strike of on the correct canter lead on one side? Or does she tilt her head or hang to one side?

Some of this can be imbalance due to compensation from a previous injury for example. So they aren't particularly sore or lame, just favouring one side.

Or it can be in a younger horse still growing and developing. Helping to set a schedule of exercises that will help is always recommended to improve the biomechanical balance.

Have you ever seen a kid hooning around on a scooter like pro and then asked him to change feet...

At EPK I want to help restore the balance.

Parading the yearlings at Inglis Classic Sale.
I love to feel the movement and stride and let these youngsters strut their stuff.
The biomechanics speak loudly if you can listen and recognise.
Overuse and injury can impact the natural movement and lead to restricted areas, leading to compensations and problems down the road.
Does the horse turn better one way?
Does he shorten stride in the hind end or front?
Does she walk in a straight line and track up?

With competition horses this can be exacerbated further with thir age and work load. Nothing against working, but even my body needs constant maintenance and upkeep to keep me functional.
In fact movement is often the best medicine.

Another day of unforgettable treatments… OAB (Osteopathic Articular Balancing) through HVLA (High Velocity Low Amplitude) articulation and Cranio-Sacral therapy to help bring the biggest of the big and the smallest of the small back into homeostasis. Then, dinner and drinks after a long days work. Good education, good fun, good food and all with great friends….I am so lucky to be a part of this journey. Until next time...
