5 years of Nourish Therapy 💛

From our very first families to the many we support today, what a journey it’s been. Every child, every mealtime win (big or small), every step forward has shaped who we are.

We’ve learnt so much, grown so much, and feel incredibly grateful to walk alongside families navigating feeding challenges.

Thank you for being part of our story, whether you’ve been here from the beginning or just joined us recently.

Let's take a quick walk down memory lane.

We’re celebrating our 5th birthday at Nourish Therapy, and to mark this special milestone we’re inviting 5 families ready for support to join our Empower & Support Feeding Programme.

Over the past five years, we’ve had the privilege of supporting children with feeding challenges ranging from mild food selectivity to more complex feeding difficulties, including restricted diets, food-related anxiety, sensory differences, and mealtime stress.

This is for families who may have already tried the usual approaches, pressure, rewards, repeated exposure, or “just keep offering it”, without lasting success, and are ready to better understand the 'why' behind their child’s feeding challenges.

Together, we look at the whole picture: regulation, sensory processing, gut health, anxiety, oral motor skills, and the family mealtime environment.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to seek support, this could be it.

Send us a DM to learn more about securing one of our 5 birthday spots.

If “just keep offering it” hasn’t worked, you’re not doing it wrong.

For many restricted eaters, progress doesn’t come from exposure alone, it comes from feeling safe, building regulation and building awareness.

When we support regulation, reduce pressure, and build trust, that’s when change starts to happen.

Oral motor difficulties can make chewing and swallowing feel hard, tiring, or even unsafe. And when that’s the case, avoidance makes sense.

You might notice a preference for soft foods, difficulty with textures, long mealtimes, or things like gagging and food pocketing.

These aren’t behavioural issues - they’re often skill-based challenges.

The good news is, with the right support, these skills can be built over time in a way that feels safe and manageable.

Because when we understand the why, we can support children in ways that actually help

It can feel counterintuitive to encourage chocolate and baked goods, especially when you’re worried about nutrition.

But for children with very restricted diets, familiar foods are often the safest and most effective place to start.

Instead of removing preferred foods, we can use them intentionally through food chaining to gently expand variety, build confidence, and introduce new flavours and ingredients.

This might look like moving from milk chocolate to slightly darker chocolate, or adding to baking to support and increase nutrition.

What are your baking additions?

Expanding your child’s food doesn’t have to mean more pressure.

In fact, the more we push, the more resistance we often see.

Small shifts can make a big difference - like considering the language you use, focusing on exposure and curiosity instead of consumption, using food chaining, and simply modelling the foods you’d like your child to feel comfortable around.

Save this as a reminder: and send us a DM if you are ready to make changes!
