Wonderment counselling

Wonderment counselling Hi, I’m Amanda, founder of Wonderment Counselling. Hi! I am very looking forward to meeting you and working alongside you!

I work with all ages, offering a supportive space and tailored approaches including person-centred counselling, CBT, and CBT-E to help improve mental health and overall wellbeing. I am here to listen and help figure out what is going on for you from the bad days to the good days, mental illness, with some psycho education to help develop awareness about how and why we feel, emotional regulation, a

nd everything else in-between. I work with a range of ages and mental illness/diagnosis, and I specialize in eating disorders and working with youth (12 -25 years old)

I share the sentiment: you are the expert of your own life; I am here to work alongside you and facilitate and support you while you are on your journey. I hold a bachelor of counselling and have just finished post graduate studies in CBT and CBT-E (CBT for eating disorders), and I am ACC registered (for sensitive claims). Currently I am studying post graduate psychology working towards clinical psychology. When I am not counselling or studying, my partner and I are kept busy maintaining and building our home along with our two pets George (cat) and Harold (dog). I also have a big love and interest in fashion, watching TV, and I do ballet with my sister!

Happy Fluffy Friday! Mental health awareness week is next week and research from far and near have proven how animals are a great source of comfort and support for our mental health and wellbeing. By just patting and hugging our pets can provide a calming presence when experience distress and anxiety. (Lowering the cortisol (stress hormone) and increases oxytocin (feel good hormone) in our bodies. In addition to this, owning a pet provides a sense of purpose as well as a responsibility, or reason, that we need to stay alive and well ā¤ļø 🐾🐾

Hi there! Been a busy few months! I have moved to another office in Riccarton, sharing this space with a good friend/co-counsellor! Currently I am requiring some of my counselling sessions with clients aged 10-19 years old, to be recorded for study. Will likely need 2-3 appointments to practice some techniques, I am offering these for free if the young person is ok with being recorded. (preferably face in recordings) These recordings will ONLY be seen by my external supervisor and my tutor and will be deleted straight afterwards. I have a consent form supplied by the Uni, clients under 16 will need parent/caregiver consent.
Thanks :)
