Hawksbury are so proud of Natalya and her efforts!

Last year, I had the amazing opportunity to compete in my first National Summer games. Which hasn't been easy, In August I got a mild concussion from horse riding, I had to take a month off training. My concussion made me scared of horses. I didn't want to compete at nationals, I wanted to give up horse riding. My coach gave me all the confidence I needed to get back up into carry on as I was so scared. I got medical clearance from my doctor to be able to ride on the second week September. We started of slowly just engaging with horses by brushing them, also riding on lunge rope. On Tuesday the 9th of December I did the law enforcement touch run with my equestrian team. Once we got to the Bridge of a Remembrance, I got interviewed by a person from The local press that was very exciting.
I won a gold medal 🥇 and 2 bronze medals 🥉
I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for everyone who has supported me on this journey.

This year, I had the amazing opportunity to compete in my first National Summer Games (NSG 2025) with Special Olympics New Zealand. I represented my region in Tenpin Bowling, competing in a double’s tournament against athletes from across New Zealand.

Tauranga proved to be my biggest challenge during the Games, pushing me to perform at my best. Leading up to the opening ceremony and competition, I felt incredibly excited—but also nervous—as it’s such a big event to be part of.

Over the past few years, I’ve been training every Saturday with my bowling group at Zone Bowling Christchurch, which helped prepare me for this year’s Games.

In 2024, I also competed in the Regional Games in Dunedin, which was an important stepping stone for me.

This year was extra special as I won my first Gold Medal 🥇 and achieved personal bests, scoring games over 130 and 150 points, with an average score of 108 points.

I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for everyone who has supported me on this journey!

This month we are turning pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

There is a little bit of a competition going on at some Hawksbury homes. 😊Today Rona the pink bear had a meeting at my office and I believe she will be travelling about for the month raising awareness for Pink October. Great work Everyone.
