Christchurch is one of New Zealand’s most accessible cities, with flat, wide footpaths, accessible public transport, and venues designed to support wheelchair users and people with mobility aids.
At Mobility Services, we’re always looking to recommend inclusive, easy-to-access places for older adults and people living with disabilities. Here are some of our top Christchurch picks:
🌿 Outdoor Spaces
• Sumner Beach Promenade - A flat, paved seaside pathway perfect for a relaxed stroll. Enjoy fresh sea air, ocean views, and the convenience of nearby cafés for a coffee break.
• Christchurch Botanic Gardens - Wide, level paths surrounded by vibrant seasonal blooms, mature trees, and tranquil river views. Plenty of seating makes it easy to pause and soak in the beauty.
• Travis Wetland Walk - A gentle boardwalk loop through peaceful wetland scenery. Ideal for birdwatching and enjoying a quiet escape into nature.
🏛️ Attractions
• Canterbury Museum - Spacious galleries with lift access and level flooring. The engaging exhibits appeal to all age groups.
