What a privilege to talk about what it means to be a Female Athlete with the Matatu Rugby Team
Key Messages

• Core elements of body systems are ALL integral in woman’s lifespan from pre puberty to post menopausal Female athletes are 177 % more likely to suffer from pelvic floor dysfunction
• AThletes who get LEA ( low energy availability) are 2 x times as likely to get SUI ( stress urinary incontinence )
• SUI is the most commonly reported pelvic health symptom in high impact sport
• Pelvic floor symptoms are not just reported by women who have had babies
• SUI negatively impacts performance, increases risk of injury and can have significant psychological impact on high performance and community recreational athletes
• Awareness is key to change and improve performance and overall@health and wellbeing for female athletes
