Wherever you are in your feeding journey right now,
someone is there with you.

The mother breastfeeding beside you at your antenatal group. Maybe she’s making it look easy, but it hasn’t been easy for her.
It took a lot of learning, patience and dedication to get to where they are right now. She’s up and down all night, sometimes she doesn’t leave the couch, she’s tired and touched out, but she wouldn’t change it. They made it together.

It isn’t easy.

The mother pulling out her formula dispenser across from you at the doctors while her baby fusses. She’s been busy sterilizing bottles, trying different formulas that work for her baby. Maybe she is battling a feeding journey that didn’t go to plan, maybe she’s grieving it, maybe she isn’t. Maybe she’s back at work expressing at every interval, the tiresome drone of the pump ringing in her ears at night.

It isn’t easy.

The mother coming towards you with her trolley, pulling out never ending snacks from the nappy bag just so she can get through one shop in peace. Maybe it’s homemade, maybe it’s covered in a shiny plastic wrapper. It doesn’t matter, because they’re throwing it on the aisle floor and pointing to something on the shelves anyway.

It isn’t easy.

The mother battling mastitis.

The mother who mix feeds.

The mother who is tandem feeding.

The mother who is weaning.

The mother who is flying spoons into their baby’s mouth.

The mother who is hunched over a chopping board cutting up vegetables, knowing her kids will probably refuse them for the umpteenth night in a row.

I have been a few of these mothers.
And there are so many more.

We all want our baby’s belly to be full.
We all want them to thrive.
We all want to celebrate them.

So we all need to celebrate each other.

Because it isn’t always easy, but each journey is beautiful in its own right.
And someone is there with you right now, at this very moment doing her best.
Remembering that makes it a little easier.

This is such a good read and is so relatable!

Some days I find myself ashamed and impatient with my body as it seems slow to lose the baby weight. Other days there are moments where I look at the 3 precious boys that I've carried and realise that even though this body looks weak and lazy by societies standards, it has stretched to unbelievable measures and nourished 3 big healthy babies. It has survived traumatic labour's. It manages to function through sleep deprivation, sickness and what feels like a million hormones rushing through daily.

Right now it needs to be a squishy and soft place for my little humans to embrace and feel comforted. I realise our children don't care about the wobbly and jiggly bits. They don't see us through the lenses of society's idea of beauty. Somehow they see you as you are under your shell. All the magic, beauty and love is what they see. They see the bits that really matter and the bits that will guide them through life to the strong, wise and caring men they will be. They see us the way God see us.

We need to remember we are so fearfully and wonderfully made ❤️

DOCTOR'S TIPS TO WOMEN..

1. You should NOT finish all housework in one day. Those who have done it are stressed and some are already buried.

2. Take time to rest, it's not a sin to sit, put your legs on the table and eat something you like.

3. SLEEP if necessary for headache to disappear. Those who refuse to take vacation leave, take time off or break time, if not, their families will miss them because they have prematurely gone on the journey without return.

4. STOP taking sedatives to sleep, you're destroying your brain and organs. Sometime you'll start forgetting things. Relax your brain, worry less, go for a walk, laugh, smile more, everything will happen eventually.

5. Meditate. Have a quiet time and relax. Breathe fresh air. Breathe out all negativities.

6. Stay in front of your mirror, smile for yourself. That turns on a positive aura around you, so you can shine with your own light.

7. GO buy you a snack or something to drink. Just do something for yourself, even if your partner doesn't do it for you... do it yourself, so you can download things in your head.

8. GET the appliances needed to ease your job and avoid stress as it is women's largest silent killer.

9. Ask help when you don't feel good, do something about it, go to health center, hospital or call some nearby doctor. Don't self medicate.

10. CONTROL YOUR PRESSURE AND SUGAR LEVEL OCCASIONALLY, whether you're sick or not. Doing this has saved a lot of women in the past. Trust this good advice I give you and give yourself the value you deserve, love and care, you are a great woman and don't forget you are Beautiful Instrument for Creation.

"Sleep with your children, hug each other while you can under the covers, do not be afraid of that addiction.
Children are small only once, then when they grow up they will find their way and their spaces.
Sleep heart against heart, so much so that you feel their breath, because there is nothing more beautiful than this.
Enjoy their childhood and their company, love them as if the world were going to end today because tomorrow they will have grown up and you will think that you lacked time to hug them. "
