Kia ora e te iwi

It was our first hit out in a few weeks today whanau and what a massive turn out it was. I was impressed with how many of our taiohi showed up and it was awesome to see a few new faces join us too. I'd really like to thank all our parents and supporters who continue to bring your tamariki along on a Sunday to help them find their spark. I understand how hard it can be to attend every Sunday but without you all, this wouldn't be as fruitful as it has been already.
Ngā mihi nui kia koutou katoa✨🌿

Back to our main kaupapa next week, health and wellbeing, incorporating Muay Thai and te ao maori.
Please remember to bring all your training gear whanau as I'll be looking at going through a few new drills to add to our kete.

Have a great week whanau. Looking forward to see you all Ngā Taiohi Toa Ki Otautahi next Sunday 26 November.

Kia ora whanau

Due to personal circumstances arising, we wont be having our normal roopu gathering for the next two weeks. We apologise for this whanau but we have something special planned in the future for our taiohi and we look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday 2 December 👀🎄😊

Keep your eyes peeled on our FB page for more details

Tēna koutou katoa

Last Sunday, we had a deep discussion around bullying. Teaching our taiohi that it's not right to bully people around them. Teaching them the many forms of bullying and how to recognise these toxic traits that have been passed down through the generations of trauma.
Through this korero with them, I learnt that each of our taiohi have their own vision of what bullying looks like to them.

We had an incident a few weeks ago where one of our taiohi was bullied on her way home from school. One thing I don't tolerate is the bullying of others so I made it my mission to have this discussion with our taiohi that this behaviour is unacceptable. We need to look after ourselves first before we can help others whanau.

This is a little sneak peak in how we korero with our taiohi. Giving them the space to breathe and allowing them to have their say because their korero is most important.

Have a great day whanau mā and remember, bullying is a habit that we can all help to break.

Āta mauri aroha e te whanau

I hope everyone has had a blessed week this week. With school holidays nearly over, it's time to get back into the schooling routine. Let's start the term off with a bang and just remember rangatahi mā, ITS THE LAST TERM OF 2023!! 😊😊

Next Sunday 15 of October, we'll be back at Bishopdale School to start smashing our goals out again.
As a collective, we're very proud of how far our taiohi have already come since we've started over 2 months ago.

If you've got whanau or friends who are keen to be a part of our kaupapa, tag them in this post. We're focused on our health and wellbeing incorporating te ao maori, martial arts and whakawhanaungatanga.

Please share, like or comment on our posts whanau. It'll help to get our taiohi recognised and hopefully push our following out to a further audience.

Āta mauri aroha whanau

Just a quick announcement

We've been invited to a rangatahi wānanga this weekend based around whakawhanaungatanga and kapahaka. This beautiful opportunity will expose our tamariki to waiata, haka, karakia and so much more.

It's going to be educational and fun and we can't wait to get out there and do some more mahi on ourselves.

Massive mihi to TĀNE TE WAIORA WAITAHA WHAKARURUHAU for creating such a beautiful space for our rangatahi to come together to gain some valuable mātauranga Maori.

Also a big S/O to the YMCA Wainui Park Camp for supplying such a beautiful venue as well.

Looking forward to seeing our taiohi smash out more goals this weekend whanau.
Have a mana blessed day and remind those you love that you love them.

Mauri ora kia koutou katoa

We had the privilege to meet this beautiful wahine from Foster Hope - Christchurch last Sunday. We received so much gear for our taiohi that I couldn't fathom any words of appreciation. My mind was blown 🤯🤯

On behalf of our taiohi and our whanau, we would like to thank you Whaea Ngarie Worsley and your hard working team for your continuous support, your awhi and aroha for our kaupapa. We'll utilise all the gear as the time goes on and we can't wait 😊😊

Have a mana blessed day whanau. Set some good intentions for your day and remind those you love, that you love them.

Mauri aroha mauri ora 🌬️🍃

Tēnā tātou e te whānau.

Ko te tūmanako kua pai tō rā.

We had an awesome attendance today. Massive mihi nui to our whanau for showing commitment and dedication to our kaupapa. Without you, this wouldn't be possible to run.

We played an energetic game of basketball where it was BOYS VS GIRLS. I've got to say, I saw alot of determination amongst our taiohi. We saw spinning dribbles, sharp shooters, big dunks and big defences.
In the end, the boys won 10-8. That's 2 games for the girls and 1 for the boys... WHO WILL BE VICTORIOUS NEXT SUNDAY???

Let's keep it up whanau. See you there next Sunday Bishopdale School 2pm sharp.

One of the inspirations that drew me deeper into this kaupapa , was having a whakatauki available for us to refer back to, to help us stay on our journey together.

When I read this, it reminds me that I need to make sure our kaupapa keeps providing the mauri so our taiohi can learn to stand in their mana and feel confident, no matter what pathway they decide to take. Kia kaha rangatahi mā✨💯

We went to tautoko one of our taiohi today at Te Puna O Waiwhetu and it was amazing. There's so much beauty in kapahaka and it was awesome to see the rangatahi enjoy themselves.

Ngā mihi mō tena Te Ataarangi. Keep up the awesome mahi ✨💯

Have an awesome Friday tomorrow whanau. See you all on Sunday at Bishopdale School at 2pm sharp.

Our structure will have a slight change as we continue on our journey. There's also going to be an increase in activity and whanaungatanga.

It'll be awesome to see ALL our taiohi there this Sunday. We have 30 officially registered. Let's get it Ngā Taiohi Toa Ki Otautahi

Kia ora whanau

I hope everyone had a relaxing Sunday 🌞☺️

We had another good day today whanau✨💯
One thing we need to learn, is when we come together as a roopu, we need to stick together as a roopu. Once that mauri breaks, it ruins the rest of the āhua for the whole roopu.
I have certain goals I aim to achieve every Sunday and if I can't keep those standards up at a certain level, then we wont achieve anything. Together we will achieve more 💯

Trust the process whanau. It may be different to the process that you've been taught but it doesn't by any means mean that it doesn't work.
When we come together on a Sunday at 2pm, be sure to come fully prepared. If you have problems with gear or anything really, just flick me a message me and we can have a chat to sort any issues.

Please be sure to register your child so I have them on file.
I'm always willing to help whanau wherever I can. So if you have any issues, please feel free to reach out to me.

I'm looking at incorporating more kapahaka aspects into our kaupapa over the next few weeks so keep your eyes open for that whanau.

He pātai tēnei

What does valuing your whanau look like to you??

Please leave a comment whanau

Have a blessed night ✨🌗

Ka mau te wehi rangatahi mā

Awesome work put in today. Another day of goals being smashed. Everyone had alot of fun as well as adding more tools to their kete. Keep it up guys!!

Our taiohi showed alot of potential and I'm slowly seeing them "find their groove". I'm looking at running these drills to keep adding to their kete. I have so much to offer for our taiohi in future and I can't wait to open up more spaces for them.

Also, without our kaitautoko, I couldn't run these groups as efficiently as they have been. Whether to put the pads on or just sharing space with our tamariki, I want to thank you all.
I appreciate all the mahi and it never goes unnoticed e hoa mā. Ngā mihi nui kia koutou

If you're looking for something for your tamariki to do on a Sunday, flick me a message and I can send you all relevant info and forms.

Please note whanau: this is FREE to attend. The only requirements are boxing gloves or hand wraps, a drink bottle and a can-do attitude.
